I just ordered some mods for my busa, one of which is a PCIII. I have since heard of this Terminal Velocity II which is an alternative to a PCIII, where there is no dyno required. Does anyone have any additional information about this product??

I am considering sending the Power Commander back and getting one of these, but I need more information.

Funny, I won't even get my Power Commander until next Monday, and I am already looking at other things.... Go figure.

Dyno shouldn't be REQUIRED for the PCIII if you can find a matching map on the Web site. I had mine dyno'd anyway and only got another 6-7hp. Not worth the time or expense. The maps on the site are very close.

This is why I want more information. Looks like it could be a good thing...

Fuel System, Terminal Velocity II - Terry Components

CLOSED LOOP SYSTEM!

Terry Components Terminal Velocity II"Alpha N" Fuel Injection Management System allows FULL-TIME Tuning for Sportbikes. It adapts to after-market upgrades such as Exhaust Systems, Intake Mods, Large Throttle Bodies, Ccams, Big Bore Kits, and manages the fuel delivery as you ride. There is no need for costly DYNO tests and you never have to build or load a MAP. Installation is simple and in most cases is completed in less than 1 hour.

Tested under the most extreme conditions, this device manages fuel delivery as you ride, increasing performance and economy.

Nothing compares to a sensor controlled device working in a closed-loop environment that can adjust air/fuel ratio as you ride. This results in optimized performance along the entire RPM range, taking into account many variables. In order to understand how our unit works and the difference between re-mapping an open-loop system and installing our unit which dynamically tunes the bike throughout the RPM and load range, it is important to understand the differences between the two methods of tuning.

Up to now, fuel management systems modify the voltage signals to the injector pulse, creating a fixed value at a fixed rpm and throttle position. This method of mapping overrides the normal operation of the ECU.

The Terminal Velocity II"Alpha N" method uses an NTK O2 sensor to monitor the air/fuel ratio in the exhaust stream. This sensor provides the Terminal Velocity II"Alpha N" unit a variable signal, which in turn allows the ECU to operate with a broader tuning capability.

The benefits of our tuning technology:

Maximizes Horsepower and Torque
Adapts to load created by inclining and declining roads, mountains and hills, two-up riders, and other variables that create load
Adapts to popular modifications such as, Air Filters, Exhausts, Big Bore Kits, Cams and Headwork
Increases Fuel Economy while cleaning Exhaust and Plugs
2 Year Warranty
Nobody rides their bike on a dyno. On the road riding conditions and load constantly change. You could depend on a mapping device, or you could take advantage of the Terminal Velocity II"Alpha N" technology, which self-tunes as you ride. The choice is yours!

I would like to hear more about this too !!!!! How much $$ ? So you just plug, and play ? How new is this ?

Been in the Harley and cruiser crowds for a while. Testing and approval has been completed for the busa.... Production is starting as we type. Should be in the dist hands by mid to late April.

I think this is the way i want to go.... Just need more info to be sure.

Almost sounds too good to be true ? Would be nice though !!!! Do you just hook it up, and that's it ?

checked on the web, found out that Schnitz Racing is listed as a distributer. They do not show a Busa yet, but 03-05 GSRX-1000 lists for about $550. Sounds like a good deal, no dyno, if it works.

Isn't that exactly what the 08 busa comes with? I think the GSXR1K got that upgrade in 05 didn't they?

If you can install this unit in 1 hour, does it come with a new mid pipe with 02 sensor plug? Just curious how they tap into the exhaust to install the sensor?

I see guys still installing a PCIII on their 08 busa's? WTF?

I will be calling the mfg today to try to find out more information. I will report back here with the results of that call.

It looks like the pipe would need to be drilled for installation of the O2 sensor if it does not come with one preset. Looks like a number of bikes already have the port installed with a plug. Just not the busa (to my knowledge).

The problem on some of the pipes on the 08 is lazy sensor performance (o2) This may be fixable with a better quality sensor.. (pre-heated etc) I think the issue may just be as simple as the sensor is too far downstream and is cooling off.. need parts and dyno time to find out..

I have been researching a closed loop for my 06 for about 3 months now and have found a number of makers... biggest hitch? the cost... I have not found a unit yet that appears to be suitable for under about $2000

I think it is going to be easier and cheaper to retro the 08 ECU and system to the older bikes.. As soon as the 09 rolls out, the parts should start coming down in price a bit (or at least be easier to get)

I do not have access to an 08 and so do not know how much has changed but I am sure that there will be a lot of interchangeable parts from the pre-08 bike to the closed loop system

EDIT: I might add that some racers need to check that their fuel and/or additives are "sensor safe" Many can coat an 02 sensor rendering them useless...

Have you looked into this unit as well? I have been told the MSRP will be in the $500 range. Is this unit not satisfactory? I am looking for any information I can get. I am still in the dark about these, adn don't even know the questions I should be asking...

Can you recommend questions for the manufacturer so I can get answers to those questions??

Thanks.
