Thank you to the youth of America

I found this sad and ironic but true.

A Warm Thank You

To the Editor:

This 50-something, white, conservative Republican wishes to thank America’s youth for sacrificing their financial futures and standard of living so that boomers, such as my wife and I, can look forward to a long and comfy retirement, which we could easily have afforded on our own. Now we have the youth as our guarantors and providers of a little something extra.

As reported by the national exit poll conducted by Edison Research, Americans aged 18 to 29 voted 60% to 36% for Barack Obama. Prior to Obama’s re-election, I believed that it was morally wrong for my generation to pass a crushing national debt on to the next one.

The debt will top $20 trillion before Obama moves out of the White House, and it will include spiraling retirement-related costs that the administration has shown zero interest in bringing under control, largely driven by baby boomers piling into the Social Security and Medicare systems.

With the president’s electoral crushing of Mitt Romney, my overriding sense of morality and guilt have vanished. Thank you, kids!

I feel sorry for those of you that will be relying on social security when you retire. Obama's spending like a drunkn sailor will have ripple effects for generations to come. its too bad people are either too stupid or too ignorant to realize that.

unfortunately electing POTUS these days has less to do with qualifications and more to do with party choice.

Yeah but this has been full speed spending since they opened up S/S to the general fund and started the "Trust Fund", "Trust" being the hilarious word there. Its sad and everyone over 50 should hang their head in shame, everyone under 50 needs to wise up that they have been getting taken to teh bank since they were born. Both of these criminal organizations we call the republican and democrat parties are responsible.

Rofl. Thank you propaganda artists of America. You make my day better by helping me laugh. :thumbsup:

Propaganda ?

Here is propaganda for ya

Government spending = Investment
Debt = Investment
Taxes = Revenue
Taxing at the same rate = tax cut
Taxing at a higher rate = fair share
550 k people stop looking for work, 135k people find a job = Unemployment rate dropping?
Federal budget = Continuing resolution (no budget in 4 years)
Social Security Trust Fund - lifetime of investment by everyone and there is no money in there, no trust and no funds
Ambassador murdered by muslim fanatics (Al Queda) = You tube video causes death arrest guy who posted it
Muslim fanatic kills soldiers in massacre at Fort Hood = Workplace violence
Terrorism = Man caused disaster
Illegal aliens = Tourists

This is propaganda.

For the record I don't mind paying more taxes myself, its the absolute out of control spending these jackassess are addicted to as well as the absolute corruption and self serving attitudes or these two parties in DC that disturbs me. They care more about their parties than they do the United States, I do see Greece in our future.

The statements the OP makes are EXACTLY why the Democrats won the election, as its PAINFULLY obvious by now that the Republican party has no interest whatsoever in doing anything to help anyone but those in the upper tax brackets. Sadly, the major complaint from Democrats about Obama is that he is TOO FRIENDLY to conservatives!

For the record Argilbertson, I (OP) am not a republican, I also don't care that the democrat won his election, they are both the same to me. Obama is just Bush on steroids. If you are expecting people that dont like whats going on to shut up and agree with people they disagree with, you are in the wrong country.May I suggest Canada because they are usually that polite (except on the ice).

Master: When I stated OP, what I really meant was the person who wrote the letter, not you...sorry about not being mroe specific on that.

I actually agree with you for the most part; it's pretty scary whe you realize that the two parties dominant in our polical process have more in common in many respects than what they disagree on. The stranglehold that private money exerts on our political system extends to both parties, though I think there's an argument that can be made for the democrats being slightly less corrupted in some avenues.

In the end the system itself is what has become the problem, and until we take some meaningful steps to remove money's influence in our political process (repealing Citizens United would be a good start), not much in the way of progress is going to happen.

President of America Obama announced a plan that would prohibit individuals from reaping tax advantages on IRAs and other tax preferred retirement accounts when funds exceed a certain threshold.
