The curse continues...

First ride on my old 1397, I got cut off by someone and they pushed me into the median at nearly 100mph. I was able to slowly stop and gain control.

First ride on this bike, The o-ring on the oil filter blew out because it was so loose, dumping oil on the rear tire. Side to side we went sliding down the length of my street until my brakes now oil soaked could stop me. I knew what it was as soon as I started sliding so I shut the bike off immediately. Lost less than a quart but it was enough that I now need a new change of underwear.

So the curse continues, but like last time I came out on top. Just barely but still.

Bike runs great with all its oil inside. Scares the poop out of me. I haven't ridden it more than a couple blocks so far. Barely hit 7k rpms and I am yelling HOLY F%^K. I go further and further until I'm sure its good to go. I need a new chain, tires, and a few other basics before I'll actually take it out for a ride.

Glad you and the bike are OK. Like Bumblebee said pull your fairings and go over every nut and bolt you can find. I had a guy I rode with that his oil filter loosened up on him. I ended up finding out it had been on there for 2 years because he never put 3k miles on it and on top of that he was not very mechanically inclined. I recently had to teach my business partner what it means when they say 1 ¾- 2 full turns after the filter mates contact as I found he only did the hand tight thing and it was nowhere close to my hand tight. My srad actually had a bracket with a rubber stopper that pressed against the oil filter to keep it from backing out idk why suzuki wouldn't keep something like that in the design.

Oh the fairings are off, I’ve already removed the rear axle, greased it, adjusted the chain after cleaning it. Changing brake and clutch fluid. First things to buy are a new chain, sprocket, Cush rubbers, some oil filters, tires, and a whole lot more. Gonna extend it 0-4”. Probably evil swingarms. I loved how my last one was set up. Going to head in that same direction.

It’s funny when I was a kid I rode dirt bikes a lot. It taught me a lot. I’ve also taken my Tri-Glide out in torrential rain and was kicking the ass end out on the highway. It was sort of like that. I leaned forward like I was doing a rolling burnout but I was slowly applying brakes. Got the heart pumping that’s for sure. Took it back to the house and fixed the filter. But I am going over this thing with a fine tooth comb.

Has anyone security wired all their bolts yet? I may be the first.

I had an oil filler cap fall off, I guess I didn't tighten it up enough..it coated my boot and the whole rear of the bike in oil before I noticed it...

I stuffed a cleaning rag in it to get me home where I had a few of them laying around...the one I put in was from my '85 GSXR race bike which is wired....and it fit which is the amazing part of it all....
