The Hump and the cut outs...

...do you all run with the hump? How much speed do you lose if you put the seat on insead? Do you think the Busa looks better with or with out the hump? I have come to like the seat and grab rail because you can strap things to the seat...why did they make it so you can't store stuff in the hump like you can on the TL...just about 2000 miles and no cut outs yet...when do the usualy start? How do you read the serial number...are the last four digers the ones? My number is much longer but the last five digets are 055xx, so I suspect it is in the affected range as it was made in 4-99 as well...I got MTB in my fuel too...BTW, I got this bike because I liked it as a sport touring bike, not because it was the fastest, so it won't bother me too much if the ZX Whatever is faster or not...I didn't get a ZX 9 cause I didn't like sitten on it, liked the "slower" TL 1000R a lot, so I got one and untill this thing came along was perfectly content. Although there are things about the twin that I liked, I don't think I'll be trading The Hayabusa in on a new one after all...

If you're not interrested in topspeed why bother with the hump ? for better fuelmilage ? No seriously imagine "wearing" the hump and a hot babe appears, are you going to offer her to sit on the teflon treated hump ?

The "Hump" you talk about is a cowling, or Cow. and I ran with it tonight,I was the only busa that did, 5 others didn't. I like the way it looks better, and I believe it is more aerodynamic, and my stock busa was the only one left in the finals, dunno if that had anything to do with it, all of the other 5 had aftermarket pipes. Dunno what happend there, I guess luck was on my side.
Peace,

I prefer the look of the hump but I'd use it even if I thought it was ugly as East Timor.

The hump helps locate your body on the bike and is good security if...excuse me WHEN...you get thrown around in the saddle and partially lose control for a moment during hard acceleration. One example: hitting bumps while you're powering out of a corner at the very moment you're moving from a hanging off position to getting centered on the seat.

That hump can literally save your ass.

For me, it's also a good reference point for high speed tucks.

Bottom line: The Hump is a great bottom line.

My wife won't ride with me so I installed the hump as a protest. I think my copper Busa gets more looks with the hump.

Hapo,

You can remove the white plastic base of your hump and cut a hole (mine is I believe 4x4 inches) of your liking to stuff "stuff" in their while you are riding. Mine easily holds a stuff fanny pack, gloves, cell phone, etc. Haven't found anything I couldn't carry in it so far.

It's a pleasure to read your posts on a dull Monday morning. The folks around me are wondering about all the laughter coming from my cube. How can I possibly explain about wearing a Busa hump to non-riders.

You guys need psychiatric assistance NOW.
