The importance of mirrors

Went riding yesterday with five other friends, my Busa, TL-S, 2 x Blades, R-1 and 916.

Friend on R1 and excellent rider and always boasts that racers never use their mirrors so that's why he does'nt. In fact to prove his point he rides around on the street minus mirrors. (Perhaps he is secretly trying to keep up with the Busa).

Anyhow riding down a particulary quite road, the R1 at the rear, and the Busa leading (where else), we notice a police car tailing us down the street.

I am looking in those huge Busa mirrors and notice that the boys have also spotted the car. The R1 slowed right down and I assumed he had seen it also. What happened next was unbelievable.

Mr. No Mirrors comes flying past us all doing a STAND-UP MONO. My jaw was dragging along the ground as he dissappeared down the street with the police car in hot pursuit.

He only brought the front down when he heard the sirens. We eventually caught up to them and found a red-faced friend being berated by an obviously angry policeman.

Luckily he was just let off with a warning for the mono and told not to be stupid. He did however get a AUS$165 fine for speeding.

Needless to say Mr. R1 put his mirrors back on this morning.

ROTFL.

Thats a good funny story, I bet you guys will jab at R1 for ever for that stunt , LOL. I wonder if anyone has ever heard of any mirrors that can be attached in or on a helmet? It seems like I saw somewhere that you can put a small monitor screen on your bike that looks to the rear and shows whats behind you on the screen, dont know if its practical though!
