I've got an '03 with just over 11K miles on the odo...i bought it in March of '05 from the original owner who was scared of it (was his first streetbike) and only put 1,600 miles on in his two years of ownership...then shortly after buying it myself?...i was involved in an auto accident (drunkard hit me in the azz while at a full stop in my truck at a stoplight) which injured my lower back and i left O-Ren parked in the garage myself for about 6 months before i could do any serious riding again myself...but the upshot here?...I've got a 4 year old '03 busa with a mere 11K on the odo...that's averaging less than 3K miles a year..but they've been "Quality Miles"

I would prefer a low mileage bike over one with high miles...some things that bother me about a bike that sits for long periods of time...

Dry starts on the engine...excessive wear can occur.
Fuel problems (bad gas) or moisture in the tank...can damage (rust) the tank or cause FI problems.
Electrical problems (especially in a humid environment)...corrosion, bad connections, dead battery.
Fluids turn acidic...clutch,brake, and engine oil seals go bad.
Tires flat spot...dry out and crack
Hoses and other rubber type products fail.

Otay folks...so far?...Meaty Frank is in fact "Winning" with an average of 1,200 miles per year.

and jjmethany is running a close 2nd by averaging 1,542 miles per year.

my 02 had a happy 18k put on her between 2/03 and 4/06... I just tripped 19k today, 3/31/07. so for wuss milage of the past year, I'm winning... considering most of those miles were put on at the spring bash last year

(as in 500-600 at the bash

Normally i will hit 20,000 a year easy. This year i may op the least. I have been in and out of the country on buiness in India, weather has been crapy in New England, so I have a lot of mileage toi make up come spring. I won't be back home unitl 4/18/2007 so I miss some more rides.

The longer i own my bike, the less average miles i put on it... i bought mine new in July 05 with 2 miles on it... It only has 6700 miles on it now... give me a few more years and my avg miles will be like 1500 or less

I hope not, i'm thinking about doing a ride on route 66 that my church is setting up to raise money for a charity center in LA. It runs from Chicago to LA in June and i might run the whole thing but i'm not sure yet! That will add a minimum 4000 miles to the clock!

sloto...route 66 runs right by my neck of the woods...that sounds like it could be a fun ride

Did you guys bikes to ride them or look at them, if its to look you can get a die-cast model a lot cheaper!
