The wall

I will never forget those that have fallen for our freedom. I think many of the younger generation are not taught about true sacrifice in our classrooms. Please teach your kids what the schools won't !!!
 
Always a sobering moment when you see names of friends and family on such a monument.
I remember the first time I realized that each headstone at the VA cemetery in West Los Angeles was somebody's child that had fought and died. Seemed like there were miles of those spotless granite rectangles...

I've been to many war grave sites and that puts things in perspective quickly.

Sadly many of the faces on our Afghanistan memorial were friends and colleagues of mine.

There is a price to be paid for freedom.

And that price is paid by the common people. Our leaders (of all political persuasions) seem to forget that sometimes.

This is a sad truth but a sign of the times...if and when there is another global conflict, it will be a much different scenario than the past global conflicts we learned about.
