I was at Radio Shack today and saw something called ( Zoombakâ„¢ Universal) A-GPS Locator,it cost $99.00 and the service is $12.00 per month. It's small and can be hidden on the bike, and its cheaper then LoJack.
I checked into these GPS based systems and they are a real pain in the butt. They charge you by the month and then that is by the number of alerts you can get. It will continue to send you alerts even when you are riding the bike so you have to install some kind of hidden switch to disarm it when you are using the bike. I found that the enhanced LoJack best fit my needs (excellent coverage), it sent a message to my cell phone and email if the bike was moved and I wasn't within 50 ft. of it. One time cost and installation, no monthly fees. If someone on the board has come across a system that is inexpensive and works I would love to hear about it.
