So im taking a ride on zora my 2001 busa and with a couple of friends its warm ,everything seems to be going great and then we decide to take our bikes on a little highway cruise about five minutes lose my license plate then find that i have a knock in the engine take it to two shops in a matter of an hour ...i was desperate to find out what it was ....first told me it was about 4,000 worth of work rod or piston slap second told me it was cam chain tensioner ...now Ive only had the bike three weeks bought it from the second shop i did find my plate after walking a mile and driving the whole route we took previous (in town)
..not in that order of course ...but it was supposed to be 50 degrees out tomorrow and now i have no bike ...i am really upset to say the least :banghead::banghead::banghead::cussing::newburn::drama::cursin:argue:3
ya so they are looking at her and going to call me monday to tell me the diagnonsense ...i dont want to pay for someone else's mistake
sorry had to vent
p.s. this sucks

yep that does suck. i hope its not serious but a knock coming from the engine is never good. Good luck to ya

That's a bummer bro. Hope it all works out for you with as little out of pocket as possible.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. As you bought it used from the shop did you get any sort of warranty with it, you could look to them for a least picking up some of the bill if not as you only had it three weeks. Hope it works out for you.

ya ...no warranty the guy at the counter said that they always try to keep everyone happy and they know i spent well alot for me anyway for the bike im hoping that its minor like cam chain tensioner like they said ...i love that bike ive come attached to her lol:goodboy:im :cookoo: for busa

Hope it's not too serious ... I feel your pain.. good luck on a cheap fix.
Prolly not the cause.. but does the sound go away when you pull in the clutch lever ?

no i wish that would be pretty simple ...no you can har it from 0 to all the way
up the rev and it gets really loud and raspy ....
and i was wondering ..the bike hesitated alot before this dramatic knock would cam chain cause this.

not sure if its a rod hope not and oil seemed fine ...i will find out tomorrow whats wrong with her. i hope i can post good things tomorrow

Sorry to hear about all the bad luck you have had. On the bright side, at least you found your plate. Hope you do hear some good news tomorrow.

well they called me this morning and said the cam chain tensioner was so loose there was no tension on it what so ever so they said it would be somewhere around 450 dollars and that they have a 30 day warranty but i was past it by two days ...but they would honor it anyway ..the 30 day covers ...nothing reaaly but to split the cost with me thats what they said so didnt want to have to pay anything ...but im happy its not worse so i agreed to pay 225 dollars so i wont be giving up my girl :cheerleader: yay parts should be here in a couple of days and hopefully running like new again ...thanks guys for the comments its been a rough few days waiting which im not good at:laugh:

Look at the bright side, could have been a lot worse $$$$ wise!
I wonder what would cause the CCT to loosen up like that? Was the bike abused by previous owner?
Good luck on the fix!!

not sure about the previous owner...it was lowered and the tire was pretty flat so maybe he tried running it ...idk it did look pretty cherry no scratches but i guess if you wanted to hide something like that replace the plastics and trade in for gen 2 ...and yes i am so happy it was not something major like rods or pistons ...having two bikes down sitting in the garage to have my sweet busa go down before spring gets rolling would not be cool ...so i will definitly pay 225 for my sweet baby to run again and not flinch ...i bet the shop knew that too:laugh:of course i made it clear i love this bike

Glad to hear that the shop is going to honor a warranty that has ran out and is taking really good care of you when it comes to the price that they are charging you. :beerchug:

Update :banghead: so come to find out after they replaced cam chain tensioner they said still making noise looks like cam chain has a kink in it so they ordered a new one and said i wouldn't have to pay for it just the original $225 (which was half the cost thats what we agreed on since i was 2 days past my 30 days after purchase) so...it was supposed to be done at 3 this afternoon. so i call and the parts guy tells me that bruce (who has been working on it this whole time) wants to talk to me. immediately i think bad news(he was on the phone with a customer and was supposed to call back) i was tired of waiting so i went to the dealership to hear the news...:cussing: its the rods after all.. said it would be $2300 :snap:the good news out of all this is my salesman said i sold you this bike with ice under it and i want to make this right bruce is gonna order the parts right now and all you'll have to pay is the $225 we agreed on..sorry for the run on essay but i had to tell someone and if i can tell anyone its the org

I am sorry to hear that the problem got even worse. The bright side is the dealership is gonna pay for the rods to be replaced. That is a good dealership and would be willing to stick with them. They know times are tough and want a good word of mouth going around about them.

Thanks Big Guy..thats why i bought from them for the 2nd time now..been buying stuff from there since 2002
