This should make for an interesting argument. To castrate or not to castrate?

I've been in several prisons throughout California and can honestly say, that sex offenders (overly broad description) are truly the most difficult issue facing our system. I would honestly feel safer for my family letting 7 of every 10 murderers out of prison than 1 out of 10 sex offenders.

I have not seen either way what medical research could tell us about the pros and cons of castration, will it help or create new problems?

True, but it would sure fit the eye for an eye argument just to teach them a lesson.

I heard of a town in Montana that was having alot of robbery's and the mayor made it mandatory for every house to have a shot gun. The crime rate dropped to almost nothing.

Ok but some of these guys are just individuals the flashed their junk. Other are mentally handicapped. I don't really think that meets the eye for an eye threshold.

Okay.. Let's say that the offenders are given psych evals and are found to be sane. Let's also say that the committed bodily offenses and not simply flashing. Castrate then?

Are we also assuming that it is not an effective treatment and the castration is used as a form of punishment? If that is the case then I have a hard time supporting government mulitation. I mean why not give frontal lobotomys (sp?) to violent criminals?

I say give them the needle...it is way cheaper! A whole lot faster too.


By the way, why do they give lethal injections with sterile needles?? That is just an added expense. Just use the same needle over and over again.

Maybe the father in me is coming out--but--anyone who would take advantage of a child (boy or girl) and force them against their will --IS MENTALLY SICK! I don't care if they are only flashing their junk--it's wrong!! Is their a cure? I'm not smart enough to know the answer to that question. All I know is if they ever did that to my kids--I'm not sure what I'd do--but it wouldn't be pretty!
