Throttle cable still good ?

So trying to get a new throttle tube on, having a hard time. In the process the coating has started to come off the return cable. Bike has 700 miles on it. Is this cable still good ? Or did I ruin it....

I reckon it needs replacement. If it was one of my customer's bikes I definitely would replace it.
You could peel back the black sheathing so its a clean transition from sheathing to cable and fit it, see how it feels on the return, but if that wire is at all damaged, or the return does not feel ok, forget it.
Replace it.
Last thing you want when riding and gassing it, is a STUCK wide OPEN throttle.

if its the coating, it will be fine, if it's a strand of wire, then replace it
