I have searched but could not find much about the subject. I am wondering if I did it proberly and what the cm in mercury should be. I have a motion pro syncing tool. I get a 25 cm reading with consistancy. Is this an o.k. setting?

There has been a lot of coverage on this subject. I'm sure someone will be able to find one of the links for ya.

I don't remember what ours was, but it was in the 20s when Rhythm and I tackled Medusa. We'll do Agent Orange next week, if you're still wondering then, I'll note what we get.

I'll be riding Medusa over, regardless of how cold it will be next week .

More power to ya. I'll be sure to pick the coldest day of the week LOL. I see all that work we've done lately has gotten you the itch.

Most people will tell you that it doesn't matter what the reading is, as long as they are all matched up.

Thanks to the board I was able to sync the tb's. If you have not done this you should! It makes the throttle smooth as can be. I have 12000 miles on it and it was off. Unbelievable change!

Do it about every 7,000 miles. I usually do it when I change plugs.

+1!

Don't worry so much about the numbers. Just get all 4 as close to the same as possible.

I was going nuts because I wasn't able to get all four the same level. and I notice the the jump from time to time when doing the adsjustment is that normal?

Just get them as close as you can. It's a little hard to get them much closer than 1cm since the engine is running and all 4 are bobbing up and down at different times. The point is really to just get them as close as you can relative to each other.

Good luck.

I just did the TBsync and notice gas mileage drop from 30 to 22mpg. help please. also notice little white smoke when I hit the gas hard and let go the gas at the end some white come out. when idle everything is fine no white smoke. when riding no smoke visible niether.

When you started, were they close? Then you adjusted them to match. I suppose if you cranked them all up a lot higher or all down a lot lower than where they were it could make a difference.

yes i did. how can i correct the problem? I closed them and then i opened them . yeap. it was a mess. need help.

I am not sure what you can do. I am guessing that you may be able to get them synced at any particular level, either too hi or too low. Now that get's back to your old question, what level did you set them at and what is right.

When we did ours we just adjusted in small increments so as not to change much from where they were. Sounds like you maybe synced but way too high or low if you started by closing them all off.

Any body have any ideas or know the correct setting in Mercury cm?

I have no idea. but I think that if i close them all the way and open them little by little I might be able to get them right. now in which direction is closing, left turning towards the #1 TB or right, toward the #4 ? what you guys think?

I don't know what to tell you. I have a feeling you've gone out of spec because of your method. But that is pure speculation. I am speculating that your decrease in mileage is from a vacuum that is either way too low or way to high after your syncing. We really need to know now what right setting should be so you can get back close to it.

With regards to closing them all the way down and then starting over I'd be a little nervous about that after I read this:

Sync Problem on sh.org

If you crank them all the way to one extreme or the other, you'd better be damn sure the bike isn't gonna rev more than 3k or enough to suck up mercury.

Good luck. I'll be interested to see how it goes.

FWIW - Jinkster's thread has a pic of the levels at almost 21cm, and another had their's at 25cm.

so if you close them the idle go up? or is the other way around? which way you close it or open?
