Tial BOV Hose Connection

According to their instructions, the connecter on top the Tial 50mm BOV takes a 1/4" hose, much larger than the fittings on the throttle bodies. I assume that's because this BOV is used on cars as well, and the BOV will function fine using a 1/8" hose, but you know what happens when you ass-u-me anything so I'd feel better knowing whether I'm right or not.

Also, although a reducer would work to make the connection, does anyone know of a better option?

Thanks

I usually "tee" one of the vacuum ports to the boost gauge AND to the BOV. The tee is bigger than the vacuum port hoses and you have to get that little hose on the tee - not as bad as it might sound. You can then go from the tee to the boost gauge and to the BOV and you're done . . .:beerchug:

Ron, I recall the original Mr Turbo setup had a fitting on the plenum to connect the tube from the boost gauge. Does it matter if the boost gauge is connected to the plenum or the vacuum port? Thanks.

You can do it either way. I personally have my boost gauge hooked up to my plenum. If you do hook it to the vacuum port make sure that you tie it in to as many of the throttle bodies as possible. If you have it hooked to only one port it will pulse really bad and bounce all over the place.

Makes sense but would I have thought of it on my own, that's the question. Knowing I might forget something, when I built the plenum, I intentionally added an extra place to attach a fitting just in case and it's near the BOV so I'll use that. Thanks.

You CANNOT connect your BOV to the plenum - it HAS TO SEE vacuum in order for it to work properly (i.e., open up when the throttle is closed) . . .:rulez:
