i was reading through another thread about kickstands and it got me thinkin. does a 07 gen1 have a tipover sensor? i hope it does not. i don't want my bike to turn off when on its side.

they all have them and the only time it's "engaged" is when the bike is lying on it's side on the floor.

the mounts break on them too. mine broke off, leaving me almost stranded. I have it sitting next to the battery now

Is it possible for one to go off while riding? Last week I was on the expressway going over an overpass and hit an abrupt expansion joint(from the heat) right at the peak of the hill and lost power for a couple seconds. I had just shifted into 4th so I was a ways off the limiter and felt totally different. It came right back and has run great since but it scared the crap outta me at the time. And yeah, the tires may have left the road a little

might be far fetched, but did you check to see if your 08' qualifies for the ignition wire recall? apparently, it cuts power do to the zip tie being too tight from the factory.

Yeah, it does qualify as it was one of the early '08's but I had put Heli-Bars on it before I even rode it and had fixed the harness then before there was a recall. I doubt this is the problem but if it happens again I will check it out. I was right at the crest of the hill and almost weightless when I hit the bump and it cut out so I'm really leaning towards the tipover sensor. Not a good feeling when you suddenly lose power at speed...

my 06 fell over in the driveway while i was warming it up for work one morning awhile back and it didnt shut off till i hauled ass out to it and flipped the shut off. should it of turned off by itself?

perhaps your kickstand dropped a little?...or would that completely kill the engine?

Jefro I don't know if this will help but I that same thing start to happen to me on my 03 turned out i had a pretty good spider web in there messing with the plunger sensor on the kickstand........blew it with the air hose and eventually just replaced

If you're leaning that much in turns.......You're my HERO !!

its more of a ADV rider thing. i have a few roads i want to go ride, and well sometimes you can end up riding on your side, :poke:bad time for the bike to die.

so is it a mercury switch? can bypass it, or is it hooked to some darn computer thing that wont let it run without it?

:whistle:i know it seems a little silly, but thanks for the help yall.

This is the best thing I've found to help me understand it.
