Does anybody know a shop that will mount the BT56ss's on my Bus. I got the set from Dennis Kirk and could not resist the price 180 bucks for the set, delivered! I know the spec tire is the 'J' series, but,, whatever. I am in Northern Jersey (Morris County,) and my dealer is pissed, mostly because I didn't give them 370 for an OEM set. Also do you guys know what's a good price for mounting (i've heard very different opinions as to what's fair.) I called Bridgestone, and the rep said that although the 'J' is spec, the SS is a 'Z' rated tire and under "Normal" conditions the 'SS' should be more than adequate. Let me know... thanks

For what some of the shops around here charge, I'd seriously consider buying the equipment and do it yourself. You don't need expensive equipment to do the job.

I've got a relative that does mine with a setup he made himself.

A fair price for mounting and balancing seems to be about $25 per wheel whether you buy the tires from the dealer or not. I typically remove the wheels and just bring those in. If you wheel the whole bike in, they're gonna have to do some more labor and I've been quoted anywhere from $35 to $55.

I'm in Houston TX, and the dealers' attitudes vary from "all huffy because you want to save some money" to "no problem.. bring 'em in". In my humble opinion, the dealer shouldn't care where you get the tires because they still have the opportunity to sell you the mount/balance service.

Whatever, I've found a VERY cool service manager who quotes prices right out of the Chaparral catalog (plus ten bucks or so). They can still make a couple of bucks on the tires, some good profit on the service, and they make me a very happy customer.

Good luck,
Warren

As far as doing it myself

I heard about the sale on the BT56ss at chaperral and bought the front and rear for $180! I don't need em yet but for that price I had to buy now. I hope my dealer doesnt get an attitude when I ride in to his shop with them around my neck!

There are even plenty of auto tire shops around that have the right equipment to mount and balance bike tires (and do a good job). I've found them for $12 to $15 a wheel (off the bike). Also, some bike accessory shops (such as Road Rider) sell tires very near mail order prices and mount/balance as well.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. 'Wingman' I know where that place is in Washington (on route 31), it's not too far from where I live, so that'll be fine. Wingman, do you know how much they'll charge if I ride the bike there?? Trebour Suzuki wanted 70 bucks a tire,, can you believe it? They are in Jersey.

Don't know how much washington charges. Call em 1-908-835-0043. Too far for me to go but I know they're good people.I have gone thru oem tires and 2 sets of Bt56ss. They work as good as oem, scuff 200 mi.when new before you push em! Now half way thru set of dunlop 207's Only Dunlop's I've liked in recent memory. Maybe see Ya on the road, been riding in pa lately.

70 bucks a wheel????Thats robbery!! $20.00 ea. off the bike $35.00 front on the bike, $40.00 rear on the bike would be acceptable.
