Can't seem to find a rubber specific thread/category as to who likes what in the current available products.
I'd like to try the Metzler Sportec M5's, or Dunlop Sportsmart, both supposedly containing the latest technology. I seek longevity (longest distance @ fewest dollars) and have no use in scratching around on a race track or riding in the rain. Comments?

I think Avon Storms are one of the longest lasting tires out there, and they still stick well

Storms get my vote. I've been running them since the bike had 16,000+ miles on it and now has more than 72,000 miles on it and I haven't changed to a different brand yet. Talk about longevity and if you're worried about getting caught in the pouring down rain, worry no more. The roads feel like they're dry. Fits my riding style too which is mostly highway.

Best bang for the buck. Go with Shinko Ravens. I have a set of Angels on my 14 with 5K miles on them. Even wear. Hopefully Ill get another 3K out of the rear.

Not sure what to go for next. Im a creature of habit and normaly like to stick to a
predictable product I know rather than chop and change and "learn" a new tyre.

On past and present Busa's and BK I have normaly stayed with either....

Michelin Pilot Powers or Pilot Powers 2ct dual compound,
or
Dunlop Qualifiers
(after market, different and better than the similar factory fitted Qualifiers)

Not everyone's choice but they suit my riding, budget, availability, mileage etc.

Pirelli Angels on mine:thumbsup: after having Conti sport attacks must say the Angels are awesome:thumbsup: and will be getting them again, could be a while done 8,000 Klm's and they still look great:laugh:

The Dunlop Qualifier 2 is the best tire out right now(imo). I don't think it will give you as many miles as a sport touring tire but it is the handling tire out right now imo. If you go with a sport touring type tire, I'm sure it will handle street duty just fine, but please be careful if you take it to the track. They don't grip as well as the more aggressive tires out there.

On the "Qualifer" subject i was NOT at all happy with the stock B-King factory fitted Qualifiers.
Was about to change to Pilot Powers but had a chat to someone in the trade first.
I ended up with another identical looking set of Qualifiers, its only when so look at the
small print on the sidewall you see one is 3-ply and one is 4-ply, one is made in Japan
and one is made in the US. I have no proof but suspect a difference in compound too.

The look identical at a glance but aftermarket was a noticable improvement.

I've never ran a OEM qualifier. The Q1s I ran were a really good track day tire, but they do wear pretty quickly. The Q2s I've been running this year are also a great trackday tire, but don't wear the center out nearly as quickly.

There's gazillions of tires on the market these days and remember everything's a trade-off.
If you're going to be riding any further than around the block, you're going to invariably get caught in the rain, so get a tire that will stick to wet pavement. There's loads of reviews on the internet for all the different tires. Read the reviews and then make a decision, that's all you can do. Of course price plays into the formula too. After looking at all the tires and reviews, I just bought a Pilot Power for the back of my baby. It's not the best tire, but decent quality for the money. If I had deeper pockets, I'd get the Avon Storms.

With these Pirellis you get distance and performance. And a little uniqueness with the whole devil/angel concept. I will be getting these tires when my shinkos are done. And for 239.99 shipped you cant beat the price...

Get the Angels. I love them. They last a long time and hold up I tested them at the Spring Bash and they made it through the Dragon.

Michelin Pilot Powers 2ct dual compound for me. It suits my riding style and provides traction I need when I do asphalt carving.
