Tire wear

Hi there,

Can someone tell me how much wear is left on this tire before I should be concerned? I know it is at the wear bars but I want to get as much out of it before I buy a new one. What about rain and such?

Thanks

I'd say the middle is done for, but if you wanna get the most out of it, do a lot of turning.

Buy a new tire, before you end up on yo cheap ass.

I wore mine down to the wear bars just as you did and I started noticed greatly reduced traction. I would get on the gas on a normal city street and just light up the rear. It got to the point where I wouldn't even want to ride it. Yeah I would get a new tire.

I don't mess around on the Busa, just go replace that thing when the wear bars are starting to get worn...  It looks like The original BT56J, if so try throwing on a BT010 200 width.   I have the 190 010 on mine and I have been really pleased with its handling, but it does seem a little narrower.  I replaced Bridgstone for bridgstone because I was concerned about mixing manufacterers and getting some mismatched profiles front and rear, I dunno if it makes any difference really though...

won't be long before the threads show through... just happened to me. I put on the bt56 as well (I agree with Rev about mixing tires), but I put on the 180.. people told me it would handle better and so far I have to agree.

Have some fun and just smoke that sucker on the garage floor til the cords are smiling back at you. Then you'll know when to replace the tire...

I'm at 8500 miles on the stock skins...  Looking to replace as well
Holy Crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know what to say. HAVE MORE FUN OR SOMETHING. Or maybe I have to much fun, if I get 3000 out of my tires I super happy. I never do burnouts, unless you count opening the throttle

. Congradulations on that tire. Man

How do you read the tire wear on the above photo? I see a wide band that's light in color and seems to be asymmetrical to the left. There's still tread showing within the band. But I also see two lighter colored bars within the wear band. Are these the wear bars, and why do they show up when there is still tread available?

Also, keep in mind the more heat cycles you put your tire through the harder(less grip) your tire gets. Not good if you ride the twisties, but looking at that tire, you seem to go straight more than turn. As long as your cautious you could go to the cords, but I wouldn't!!
