Picking up my '05 tomorrow. How common is the crankcase leaking on the paint issue? I just assume stop the fire before it starts and have that tube rerouted or extended immediately but guess dealer won't fix a problem they don't see.

Is it pretty easy to get replacement tubes and fix myself or should I just wait and see what happens and take to the dealer if my paint starts getting destroyed...?

I've had my '05 for a few months now. No leaks.
(Hope you go got the fast one! Blue&Sliver)

My tube leaks a bit on the inside of the plastics, just re-route it. No offense to the above posters, but my guess is they did not look very close, or their tube is re-routed..because it is gonna drip some stuff...that is why it exists.

Had my 05 since the 1 st. of july. 7000 miles no leaks. Just changed the oil 2 hrs. ago so I had the faring off. The whole thing was dry as a bone.

WICKEDSPRINT: DO YOU HAVE A PIC. SO WE CAN SEE WHAT MEAN BY RE-ROUTING? I AM NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE IT IS. THANKS

Gots an '05 no probs like you explain, false neutral problem going away with more miles (3,000).

Had my 05 since Oct of 04. 4000 miles with no issues (Other than original build problem with the VC Gaskets) Your not taking a "chance" Your getting a good deal on a helluva machine! Hopefully you will be fortunate enough to get the fastest color ( Blue and Silver for those in Denial)!

Just double checked mine, it did stain the paint a bit on the right side, about where the sidestand would be if on the right. I think the two tubes are gas tank overflows, I am going to extend them a bit. Bike is not using any oil that I am aware of yet and the fluid from the tubes was perfectly clear.
