TOBIN, CORBIN OR GEL?

I'm preparing for a long trip and am curious as to which seat provides the most comfort for long rides and also provides support with quick accelerations. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Obviously Tobins seat will provide support for acceleration because of the design of the seat. Neither Corbin or Suzuki gel will do that. Members will tell you good things about all three. Hard to decide. I personally have a new silver and black gel and love it. Tried a Corbin, hated it. Traded for old style gel and bought new gel when available. Good luck on whatever style you choose.

How stable is the gel on acceleration?

Big Dawg, wish I could tell you a lot about the seats but I can't. I have sat on many gel seats and seen many Tobin seats, but never did any real ridin' on any of them. I went with the Tobin seats based on what I have heard from the board. I think it will come down to what is available and what you think you will be comfortable. My Tobins should be in tomorrow and I can probably tell you a little more!

Hey BigDawg!!!

I have both a Tobin and a Corbin... The Tobin looks GREAT and will hold you in place in high acceleration. Basically it is designed like a drag seat. However, long distance I don't know if it would be as comfortable as the Corbin. The Corbin for me had more padding around the edges which were "rider friendly".

I put 250 plus miles on the Tobin in one ride and it was cool. My inner thighs were a little sore at the end because that's the area that has less padding than the Corbin. But it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't go long distance in it again. Now, if you're going 300 + miles, you may be looking for more comfort. That's why I kept my Corbin so I can change up if I take any REALLY long distance rides....

Hope this helps... Here's a pick of my Tobin, you can't deny the looks are off the hook!!!

Peace & blessings.....

Thanks for the input Lo, your seat looks great. I still say ya got the sweetest Busa on the site.

God Bless,
BigDawg

That seat is the shizit, Lo! I can't believe how closely matched the stitching on the seat is to the bike!

No, but I'm soon to order some decals from them. I have chrome and like them, but they don't match the stock size. Gotta pay more $$$ for my baby to look right

Yeah, I like what I see on their site but didn't know how it might look on a stock job! I ordered some carbon fiber decals for my Kat 750, but haven't done anything else with them.

I've owned them all corbin, gel, and now a tobin.

Gel is similar to stock but is a little more comfortable on long distance rides, as far as holding you in place ---no more than the stock seat.

Corbin is a saddle for the most part & its very comfortable on long distance rides and actually does keep you planted in place for most street excursions. Imagine a horse saddle and thats a corbin --- the only downfall for my part is its wider than stock which means with my 30 in inseam i wasn't real comfortable because my feet weren't as planted at stops and also i found my feet moved further out on the pegs.

Tobin -- I haven't been on a long distance trip yet--giveme another month.. But when i had him do it i asked him to trim the sides and add additional padding to the seat (I needed that etra cushion lololol). So basically he built it for distance riding. And as you know It has the back stop, so i think if you let tobin know what you want you will be better off with a tobin seat. My $.02

Thanks dez, good info.

I prefer the Corbin seat. So does my wife. She says it is worth twice
she thinks I paid for it. the Tobin doesn't leave one with enough 'wiggle'
room. However 'my' Tobin wasn't made custom for me. I got it off a totaled
Busa that was being hauled away for scrap. I ordered the
Corbin 3 weeks after the Tobin...never could get comfortable
on it. Hope this helps.

RaiderDM now as far as pilions go My wife would agree with the Corbin choice. The Corbin sits about 3-4 inches higher than the stock or tobin which gives the pillion much more leg room, and the seat is as plush as anybody could ask for. I kept the Corin as a pillion seat.

Don't know about the comfort but hands down the Tobin looks the hottest...Out the window with comfort the "BigDawg" should go with the style...

Dezzy7 I have a question for you, I have 'bout the same inseam as you, does the Tobin provide the best foot planting of the choices? Personally, I can give up some comfort for rock-solid food placement.

Thanks
A six foot tall guy with short legs:)
