Today is World Mental Health Day

I'm sure this'll be a civil thread. Older generations don't believe that mental health is an issue at all.

But in regards to the psychedelics for depression: I think it's a good thing that these studies have taken place and proven that it helps. Hopefully psychedelics will follow the path of cannabis with its legalization.

When I was still serving I presented myself to our military mental health people, the first thing they did was prescribe me pills....I didn't take them....I left the military and was assigned to a civilian mental health clinic.

When I told my psychiatrist that I was prescribed drugs by the military mental health clinic but I didn't take any she was happy I didn't as in most cases they mask the issue and can alter your brains chemical balance.

I was treated by her for 4 yrs and never took one pill, she used EDMR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) instead and it works, it was developed for military veterans after Viet Nam.

Hi. I was given pills too. I did take them and people said I was not Mike anymore. I also lived in a tent that was a mile deep in the woods with a lop of cats that were wild. But they came to be my pals. And they would come in the tent with me. A doc and a vet friend help me connect with people again. And the cat came with me to the house. And yes I am still crazy. The PSD did not hit me until I was in my 40's. Look back it is like I was always trying to kill my self and maybe still to this day.

That's just how it works too....it was fortunate my wife picked up on mine and pestered me to seek help or lord knows where I'd be today....

I don't know what Demographics you consider to be the older generation.

We have recognized mental illness for centuries. What we have learned through advances in technologies is that it has more recognizable tangible aspects we can treat/recognize.

The NFL is a good example. It's only recently that we have been able to dissect brains to see the damage it has caused. Now we can mitigate it.

What the "youth" has done was be brave enough to shine the light on mental illness. They have a recognizable platform to stop work and get treatment.

Many employers, including my former one would consider mental illness a grounds for dismissal.

Hi all,

Today October 10th is World Mental Health Day. I’m posting a link to a podcast from two Stanford researchers who talk about the current landscape of the science and I found it to be very interesting.

Considering riding is an excellent outlet for life; I figured why not post this with the goal of shredding the stigma of mental health.

it's important to take care of our mental health. some time ago with help of http://essaypapers.reviews/ I wrote interesitng paper about its' importance

Mental health is very important in our life, and it's important to remember it not only in October. We have to take care of it every day, because it's easy to prevent problems than to solve them
