Diesel had told me he was leaving around 6:00 to ride to Daytona, he told me where I could meet him around 7:00 so I left the house early and stopped along his route to wait for him.

I waited until just before 7:00 and he never rode by, so I rode to the next town where he said I could meet him.

By 7:15, he was nowhere to be found so I left him a voice mail and told him of the route I was riding so we could play phone tag and maybe meet up. I rode on and never heard from him, so I called Dakkine and decided to meet him for breakfast in Daytona. There were 5 of us there, Dakkine, Me, HBR and his dad, and Jinkster.

After we ate, we headed over to the track. After sitting through 3 light cycles and watching my temp gauge climb higher and higher, I decided it was time to ride, not sit in traffic with thousands of motorcycles. I told the guys goodbye and headed west. I explored some really fun roads. The great thing was that all the traffic was headed east to Daytona so I pretty much had the westbound lane to myself. I stopped for a drink at the little town of Altoona.

I decided to take a route back home that I had never taken before. It was a real blast. The nice thing about riding alone is that you don't have to wait for the group to catch up. I passed everyone in sight and never looked back.

Riding through Webster, I could hear my phone ringing, so I pulled over to answer it here.

So, in 5 hours, I rode 130 miles to Daytona, ate breakfast, got frustrated with traffic and rode 150 miles home. I call that a good day.

Yeah, I agree, not too much to be said and the photo journalism is not my best, but hey, I did a lot of fun riding. Oh, and it was 7 hours, not 5.

Another interesting note, notice in pic 4 that my hump is not fully attached. I took of down a two lane twisty highway from that spot and failed to latch the hump. I was coming out of a sweeper around 100 and felt what seemed like someone tapping me on my lower back, it kind of freaked me out. I reached back and it was the top of the hump hitting me, I was able to secure it before if flew off. Some of you may remember that happened to me a while back and I had to get a new hump.

Any riding pics are good ... with a nice, short story. Like that black-n'-purple, too. One of my favorite color schemes.

Muzzy makes an aluminium fan blade that improves cooling, is easy to install and only costs $35. I like mine!

Kevin- enjoyed meeting you. Your ride looks like a better time than we had at the races. Diesel was busy with the drunks on Main St

Nice meeting you too, I talked to Diesel on the phone today and mentioned that my bike looks plain next to your's and your dad's. You have done some nice looking mods to your bike. If I want to draw any attention to my bike, I need to stay away from my fellow board members, other than WWJD, I don't know if anybody has less mods than me.
