On my way home from a spirited ride, I was passing the Sat night hangout and saw some old friends there and decided to stop for a min. It's mainly a muscle car hang out but there are bikes too. Everyone that stopped to look at the Busa had nothing good to say. 1st, some 15 yr old kids asked how fast I had it up to and I told them 185 MPH or so and they told me I was stupid. Then, I had several people tell me the red looks loke $h!t. I plan to have it custom painted over the winter but damn, keep negative comments to yourself. I had several people ask why I was wearing a helmet and leather jacket on such a nice night. No one around here wears any gear what so ever. I had a couple of guys ask if I wanted to run the Busa. I told them I'm a rider, not a drag racer. They said who the hell buys a Busa and doesn't run it with real $h!tty attitudes. I guess I'll just take my Lightning if I stop there again.

i have heard several comments like that in the past

1)
why are you wearing gear on a nice night like this???
answer
cause im not a SQUID POSER like you. i ride my bike the way its supposed to be riden and when you do that to a bike you need gear
2)
why did you buy a busa if your not gonna run it
answer
cause i can and no i wouldnt race you cause i dont wanna waste my gas racing something i can beat in 3rd gear. wanna race go get your cash, cause i need new pipes and tiers anyway, and we can lay it down some were ride out and race back to the money. first one there keeps the money.

3)
the paint looks like crap.....
Answer
Really..If i wanted your opinon i would ASK

at that point thats were i leave and dont go back to that spot due to fear of causeing bodily harm to some one. sorry but if i go back to a spot like that i would end up in jail for beating the piss out some punk (and yes i would and not think twice)

IMO
dont go back if you do make sure your ready to put some retard on his ass to wear he dont get back up for awhile

don't feel bad, i get the "how fast have you gone on it" and do you want to "run it" questions quiet a bit too. there was a toyota truck that pull next to me and started reving the engine the other day. i just give him the 'what an idiot' look because there were other vehicles on the street that we were in. i mean who in their right mind would pull up next to a stranger and in a public setting and ask for a race. want a race, go to a race track so if you f**k up, you're the only one that gets hurt instead of innocent people that has nothing to do with the race. some people just automatically think that we are all racers because of the type of vehicles we ride and drive. some of us actually bought bikes we love with our hard earned money because we want to take care of it and ride it for a long time not abuse it unnecessarily so you're not alone, just don't let idiots like that get to you about the color of your bike or jeopardize your safety and money.

I'd say fug 'em! All those folks that made comments or asked questions probably didn't know what they were talking about or commenting on. If not, they were just hatin'!

There all just envious of our great machine! LOL

Sounds like you are hanging at the wrong place. I know what you mean though. I had a zx-12 owner walk by my bike the other day. "That is just wrong". "Green does not look good on a Busa". Oh well, looks good feels good to me.

Fug em. When you sit on top of the motorcycle world everyone wants to take pot shots at you. They just don't understand the Busa...

Where's this hang out at? We may need to meet up and then go around commenting on all the "lesser" vehicles there...which would be ALL OF THEM!!

Busa is going to draw race requests all the time, it is just the nature of the beast. Next time just answer "Sure, but I only race for cash"..... they will walk quietly away.
wink.gif

Fug em all. They don't understand that the busa is at the top of the food chain and they are all dinner in the waiting.

Oh the price we pay for being the friggin KING!!!!

-Lil Kid shut up grow some hair and earn some pay
-Do Ferrari owners drive at 170 all the time?
-I wear gear because I like my skin intact and I know I'm cool just for being on a Busa, not riding around w/ shorts, a tank and thong flip flops. Can you say wound care!!!!!

Erbody already said what I would initially want to say so I'll say...forget em! Bout as subtle as I can be

And don't be in a hurry to paint your bike because of some morons! Work on other aspects of looks/performance.

The red is beautiful....if you don't like it it's because you have bad taste-obviously, by the look of your nasty old lady!!! One of my classics, feel free to use it.
I wear gear because I'm not an f-ing idiot.
I don't race every wanabee in traffic because I'm not an f-ing idiot.

For me, your experience is odd. Even the Harley guys give the Busa props.

Their comments (my replies follow):

"I hear those things are fast."
- Yep. It scares me pretty good every once in a while.

"Why not a cruiser? I figured you for a Harley guy."
- I have a speed addiction, this is the cure.

"How much power?"
- 155hp at the rear wheel, give or take.
"That's crazy."
- Yep, it is.

The local 600cc crowd had a set of comments like this (my replies follow):

"Man, that thing is HUGE."
- Yeah, but I'm not tiny. I just don't fit on a 600cc bike, and the literbikes are damned tight.

"Is it slow?"
- I'm always getting passed by Yugos and stuff.

"Do you race it?"
- Not on the street. There isn't much point in it with 99.9% of the vehicles on the road. It'll go to the track in a month or so and we'll see what it can do in a safe environment.

Funny thing is, I've had TWO 9-year-old kids come up and literally FAWN all over the thing on separate occasions. Made one of their weeks by letting him sit on it.

PS - I think red is beautiful too.

Sounds to me like you just pulled into the wrong place at the wrong time. You probably would have gotten better treatment at a Harley bar.

Miami Subs in Highland. I haven't been there in about 2 years. It was a much older crowd then. 40's - 50's mainly. It was a much younger crowd the other night. I only stopped because I saw some friends. All my friends gave me props, just didn't get respect from anyone else. I get people talking to me at red lights all the time and waving in traffic. I just wasn't used to all the negativity.

I have had a lot of Harley guys show me respect but have also got the one finger wave from 3 or 4 of them. I just don't understand why people are such a-holes. For example, I am not into the Honda ricer fad, but I would never tell someone their car looks like crap or disrespect them. I respect everyone's interests even if I don't share the same interests.

amazing isnt it? I had a quartet of late teen/early 20s meatballs roll up next to me at a red light in a busy business district yesterday. Typical posers: wife beaters, shorts, helmets strapped the passenger pegs, sneakers, each of them on a different brand 600 supersport. The fearless "leader" of this group looks over and wants to race. Mind you im in levis, a jocket rocket leather jacket, hiking boots and arai helmet. I point to my head and then to his helmet. He gave a strange look like "why?" Meanwhile the light turns green and we roll a whopping 300 ft to the next red light. That would have been a really "fun" race! He then shoots his mouth about not needing gear, so i say no thanks, ill see you at the dragway on wednesday for streetnight, make it official. More garbage from his mouth follows, so i end it with my usual scathing 600 rider reality check: "hey guys, those are gonna grow up to be really nice bikes someday." The dumbfounded look on the kids face was priceless...he kinda sat there at the light after it turned green while i pulled away....i laughed my ass off for a good mile or 2 and smiled inside my helmet about it for the rest of my evening ride.
Ill admit ive raced a time or 2 (thousand!), but not in a shopping district with stops, cops, and cars everywhere at 5 pm! Also seems in the same traffic, car passengers signal for the wheelie....go buy your own f-ing bike and YOU wheelie in 20 mph traffic, moron!
Anyway, the board is right...dont take criticism from the have-nots personally....also, sorry about the 600 comment, they ARE good bikes....but he DESERVED it!
