I'm looking into getting a used Toyhauler to haul my bikes and 4wheelers in. and i was wondering from some of you on the Org that may have one. What kinda you have? size? and what you like or dislike about the one that you have?

thanks much

a lot depends on what you pull with and what you will use it for.

Dry camping or full hook-ups

all paved roads or rough terrain

how many ATV's

family size

what % of time will you use it

How much time will you spend in it

Just some of the basic questions to answer before I could give any good advise

ok well i guess i coulda stated that also

Ok well mostly on road some off since i live on gravel roads and may be down by the river some. Will probly be a combo or Dry camping and Hookups

Will be used for 2 Atv's or 2 bikes or one of each as for family size probly don't need that now but if i buy used can't exactly be choosey

As for how much time i will get to use it probly once a month i'm hopeing mabey less and mabey sometimes more even depending on work and stuff

And well i'm looking that i can use it even if i don't haul the toys also but may have some other family also so a bigger one would be nice

as for vehicle to pull it i got that covers already i have 3/4 ton diesal so no worries there

I would suggest a 5th wheel model since the truck you have. Next i would suggest slide outs to make it more comfortable. Get a seperated garage and living compartment. Try to find a fully loaded model with a gas generato and fuleing station.

Best models IMO:

Weekend Warrior
Raptor by Keystone

Thats kinda what i was thinking already warwgn if i get it right the first time i can keep it for a longer period of time and it will always be right

I knew i liked the idea of the garage seperate from the living quarters then you can always get the bikes or atv's in and away from looky looers or vandles and you can still sleep too

I have been looking into them for a few years now just dont have the cash or the truck to pull. But I desert race and it's all dry camping for 3 days at a time, so I see what works best in that situation.

Also my parents live out of a 5th wheel 4 months out of the year each summer at the bottom of wolfcreek pass in Co, with full hook ups. I have stayed with them for a few days each year so i have that side covered too.

So my advise is based off you saying how often you are going to use it and that being the case you will want max comfort and room. Storage will also be a big consideration since you wont want to unpack and repack every month. It's best to have everything you need except clothes left in the trailer so you can just load the toys, clothes, and go!

Good luck in the search.

I have a 2003 Coyote Sportster 22C. It is made by K-Z. Mine is 22ft and does not have seperate living quarters and garage, but does have a front pop-out, so I can still have the bike outta sight and sleep. I can use it to camp in for a week, but it does get a little cramped. It also has a propane generator on it that I use on a weekly basis at the race track. Man, that air conditioner sure does feel good!!
It isn't the biggest, or the nicest, but it fits my NEEDS for the most part, and that is what counts. If I bought what I WANTED there is no telling what I would have..LOL!!!

Unless you know exactly what you want keep your eye out for any RV shows and go to them they will also have dealers for the Toy Haulers showing off models. There is a big show in Luweyville, KY this month.

Hey Todd, it's Justin from Nebraska.

I don't personally have a toy hauler, but a good buddy of mine does.  He bought a Raptor toy hauler early this year.  I don't know the exact model, but I'm thinking it's the 3712TS (based on the floorplan picture on the website).   It's one of the bigger ones.  It has 3 slide outs.  One in the front bedroom, and then 2 in the middle section (one on each side).   If you go to the keyperformance-raptor website, the picture of the interoir is identical to what he has.

We took it up to Sturgis back in August and it was pretty nice.  Him and his wife obviousely had the bedroom, and I took the loft above the garage.  Just hanging out at the campsite it was very comfortable for the three of us.

Hauling our bikes in there was a snap.  Plus it was just nice to be able to put the bikes inside every night and not have to worry about anyone messing with them or having them rained on.

I talked with him about it and he said that he was looking at a different brand (don't know which one), but he said the other brand was just a little too much money for what options the other trailer had, so he went with the Raptor.

I'm definately not big into camping or know much about campers/toy haulers, but I thought it was a really nice unit.  Something I would definatly like to own, but probably will never be able to afford one.

I and Sue bought a 35 foot fifth wheel toy hauler about 3 weeks ago. It has a 12' long garage area with plenty of cupboards in th garage for parts and cleaning stuff. The garage is segregated from the rest of the camper by a fire wall and door. It has a large slide out for the kitchen and living room area. It has built in stereo that goes to each room. The Bed room area over the truck bed you can stand in with a queen size bed. Empty its 9300 pounds. Put in the busa and Sue's Bandit 1200S and all the water food and stuff and your looking at 11300 pounds for just the camper. Its called a Patio Hauler because you remove the bikes from the garage and the very large side windows in the garage swing up and out and they have screens along with the back door ramp area. It turns in to a screened in patio room. I have a F450 super duty dually diesel to haul it. Make sure you have the truck that has the balls to pull the thing if you buy one! But with central air and forced air heat, full bathroom, kitchen there is no better way to camp with the bikes. My picture files of the camper are too large to load in here. I did try... I will have to take some new pictures to post in here. Buy the way this is the best time of year to buy one and get a good deal... But they cost were talking anything from mid 20s to 40s for a 5th wheel this size.

well thanks everyone currently i am looking at a slightly used all american thats a 36ft that has a slide out in the kitchen area with seperate garage and stuff they are asking 28,000 for it this was like a 36,000 new i guess and it like 2 years old so not sure if thats a deal or not wish i could post pics but it dose look in decent shape anyways i will continue to look over the winter i would like to try and snag one before the new year though

Hey there Justin how ya been? how is the track at Hastings? i never managed to make it there this year but i'm planning for next and thats kinda where i thought a toy hauler would be nice for also you know. I'm no big camper myself the tent way anyways but i can live with camping with something like that. Thats for sure and with the impending marriage and stuff it would be nice for the 2 of us i think

The track seems to be a hit soo far. Seems like there's always a pretty good race crowd whenever they have races. It just started up late this summer so it's still a little early to tell, but everything sounds like the racers seem to like it. I think they've ran bikes on there 3 or 4 weekends since they've opened. You'll definately have to try to make it down and check it out. I'm thinking it would be worth your while.
