Track bike

Hey Y'all,

I found an old beater in my friends garage. It's a 1992 CBR600F2 with 21,000 miles on the clock and I bought it for a song ($200). The frame, engine, front end, and swingarm are all in decent shape. The drive components need replacing (chain and sprokets) and needs new rubber.

My problem is I need to find plastic for this beast. It needs pretty much everything except the very rear plastic driectly behind the seat. I'm trying to keept he costs low so I really want to avoid spending $700 on plastic for a $200 bike.

Any thoughts will be appreciated. Chris

First off the bike is worth more than $200. Secondly you don't want to get a to cheap a set of plastics and then have to replace the whole thing the first time you go down. If you seriously wanting to take it to the track I would invest in the suspension first. Revalve and spring the front end. New rear shock. Then the plastics. You won't find a set cheaper than the $200 you paid for the bike. I will keep my ears open for you though. Oh yeah you will want to invest in a steering damper as well. I race an F3 so if you have any questions let me know.

You're gonna hate me but I just chucked/gave away some 98'F3 stuff. If you need a slip on or stock full system give me a shout.

There's a pic of my 6 in this post

A very capable track bike indeed.

Thanks guys.

I've seen somewhere a one (or two) piece set of plastic for some "race" bikes. It eliminates the passenger seat and seems to bolt on in one continuous piece. Maybe I'm way off but hopefully I'll find something.

Yes, I plan on looking into suspension though It looks like it has some aftermarket parts on it already. ohlin rear shock, K&N filter with an airbox mod. The front forks may be "tweaked" from a wreck. Won't know till I tear the thing apart sometime after I get back from bike week at MB.

Anyway thanks for the comments. Chris
