You are right, flyfast! This is true! I forgot about the "club warranty." Lol... TOTALLY worth the $20 investment, and an awesome way to fight the antiquated, unproven BS moneymaking notion that speed kills.
The government often seems concerned about your safety, yet how many times have you seen a cop more worried about your speed or the fact that you have an outdated registration and less concerned about the car in front of you that has no brake lights? I mean, c'mon... Where's the danger here?
Fact is that speeding tickets are one of the best forms of revenue that a government can find, and that is all there is to it. How many times have you been pulled over for going 70 in a 55, even though your machine is perfectly safe at that speed? What about when there were no other cars around? What about when the four lanes each way of road were dry, clear, and totally unoccupied by another car? They still pull you over, but it's not unsafe. It's far less safe to be driving stop and go in a traffic jam in LA. I see accidents all day long becasue someone was riding too close...
Speed doesn't kill... Inoperable equipment, reckless driving, high risks, INTERSECTIONS, and blind drivers do. I had a friend that lost his life because a driver ran a red light (just didn't see it) while he was going through his green. He was going less than 10 mph. It's not the speed that kills. It's misjudgement.
The reason that we all believe that speed kills is because it's an easy way for the government to make money. It's all about the cash, man, and I think it sux.
Join the NMA and help fight the government's strangle hold on the American driver. This isn't about safety... It's about making money, and I am tired of paying.
Look... For the amount of insurance I pay per month, I could easily buy a second bike to have in my garage in case I crashed the first. That's rediculous! My insurance doesn't cover MY injuries, and I, on a bike, am not likely to hurt someone is a car. So why the high price? I think that the second bike would be better "insurance" than paying these big companies. It's all about the money, and the government is a part of this whole insurance scam becasue they REQUIRE you to have it. Do you remember college business class? What happens to a supply and demand curve when the demand goes way up (because it's required?) The price can skyrocket, and you and I are left footing the bill.
With the price of my insurance, I buy a new bike for someone else every 23 months. A new 'Busa, in fact. Never had an accident, never mad a claim, and with one speeding ticket (47 in a 35) in three years. 29, unmarried. Sux big.
