A train derailment involving a possible hazardous materials spill. Kankakee County Sheriff's Police Chief Deputy Ken McCabe said between 15 and 20 cars derailed that were carrying a liquid product — but local officials are unable to confirm yet exactly what the materials are. The Grant Park Fire Department evacuated several city blocks, and officials have closed several roads going into the city. The derailment occurred at 7:52 p.m. on the northbound Union Pacific line, directly in downtown Grant Park. Grant Park Fire Department officials said residents are being relocated at a warming center at Community Park. Several residents who contacted The Daily Journal said evacuees are also being sent to Grant Park High School.
