I didnt know where else to post so Ill try here. My transmission is shot. I was riding the bike and the tranny started making noise so i pulled the motor and i notice that the first gear from the front sprocket has play in it. that is what was making the noise.
I'll run to the dealer tomorrow see if they can order the parts to replace that gear and the bearings and whatever else is needed.
You guys ever hear of this problem? What could be the cause and how can it be prevented. Thanks

I would send your damaged trany off and have it undercut, balanced and overhauled. It will probably be cheaper to do this as well

My tranny does the same. Almost 1/4 turn back and forth.
Mine shifts fine, so I suspect it is normal?
Anybody else?

I have a short video on my phone but dont know if I can post this??
It's the first gear from where the front chain sprocket is, it has quite a bit of play in it.
i went to the suzuki dealer today and the guy will try to order the parts for me free of charge, I hope the warranty guys dont give me crap for it. The gear teeth look fine I think its just the bearings inside the gear.

there is no bearings (there is races of sorts though)
there are dogs the hold the gears together
they all have slop
this gear you refer is 6th gear it meshes against 2nd

you have to be sure to put the races back on right when reassembling the trans also or it will burn the whole trans up real quick

The ongoing drama that is your bike build makes for amusing reading, since you and your well-intentioned friends insist on building your bike to save money. Not saving too much money now, are you? Don't you think it is about time that you either sold that mess or took it to a reputable shop to get it fixed right? Maybe you'll be able to ride it next season!
