Turbo bike

` I just thought I would say how unhappy I am with my unreliable turbo bike. I know it's going to blow up any minute or strand me in the middle of nowhere, but I don't care I'm going to ride it all year long just like I did last year. I'm going to dump a bunch of money into it just to keep it running, you know, tires, oil changes, fuel, maybe a new chain and sprockets.
I don't think I could recommend a turbo, they really don't make that much power, then you have turbo lag, my bike won't start to build boost until 3k rpm. Plus, they won't corner since you can't carelessly use the throttle like you're on a moped, you know grip it and rip it.
Well that's about it for now, I needed let everyone know what a horrible experience I have had with my turbo so that no one makes the same mistake that I did. I have included a few pictures to show the huge holes you have to chop for an air filter and the loud dump pipes.

If it is any consolation, I really do feel sorry for you.

Nice writeup, I like it.

On a serious note, you REALLY need to lose those extensions. I can't believe your running a turbo with swingarm extensions. You're just asking for trouble.

Extended arms aren't that much money and well worth the piece of mind.

Just my .02

So I fell for it ... I'm looking at those pics and thinking "Is this guy crazy ... that's one sweet lookin' bike! And what holes and dump pipes?!?" Great job!

nice video, I like dump pipes. How long have you had the turbo setup ( time and miles ) ? Any problems ?

I installed it at the beginning of last summer and I've put 5k miles on it with zero problems.

turbo busa's can work out fine as long as everything is tuned and setup right. I bet though that your grand total costs were >4000.00 though.

Alot of people tend to wick up the boost and that's what gets them in trouble. A buddy of mine and I have debated the turbo vs other and it comes down to the intended use and money invested.

Nice bike and I really like the setup! nice n clean.... oh yea... keep the extenders!

But if I told you the grand total cost with secondary injectors and an intercooler was under $5000, would you believe it?

I believe Cecil has sold Big Red and rides a GSXR-1000 now. He hangs out at the Tampa Racing forum a lot.

JJ, what are you running 250 HP, 300, 400, 500. I was looking 250-260. Simple stage 1. Don't need a headache or a lot of cost. 5K initial install and tune is fine. I just don't want a nightmare.

I've never had the bike on a dyno so I don't know the exact horse power, but I'm running 13-14 psi which should be somewhere around the 300hp mark.

Trying to avoid going into the engine. Keep us posted, I put 5K on my bike every 12 weeks.
