Turn Signal indicator flickers above around 4500K

Last ride I noticed that my left turn signal flickers when I get above 4500 rpm or so. I think it is related to some crossover from the taillight. A couple of months ago I had to replace my tail light converter for the combined tail and turnsignal leds I have on the back. I'm assuming it is a wire that may have worked loose after that repair, but has anyone ever heard of something like this? I'm afraid that it also might have to do with the charging system putting out too high voltage at higher RPMs thus the relationship of the flickering to RPM. Any thoughts? Thanks

With the scoot at idle, do all of your signal and brake functions work?

It seems odd that your turnsignal would flicker...also, I wonde if your switch isn't going bad in the housing? Hmmm. This is interesting.

Sounds to me like its a loose wire. Perhaps it might not be a specific RPM as much as it is the wind pushing on it? maybe its grounding its self. I'd recommed taking a look at the wires from harness to lightbulb, then work your way out from that.

good luck.. keep us posted.

+1.

I`ve heard that a resistance is needed when somebody changes oem tail lights to led ones

not really... the only thing a resistor will do is make your lights flash at the normal rate. If you hook up LED's without a resistor they just blink faster.

Sounds like you may have a bad ground or something has worked loose. Like said above, it make not be a rpm setting so much as it might be something that is vibrating enough once your bike is at 4500 rpms or higher.

Thanks for the input. It isn't the wind since the indicator flickers even if I just rev the bike in the garage. I'm guessing a ground worked loose. But the correlation with the RPMs is strange. Before I replaced the integrator module my taillight would go out at 3K or so RPMs (note brake and turnsignals in the combined leds still worked but taillights would go out. they would come back on below around 3K). I replaced the integrator and everything worked fine all lights and everything. Now the left indicator on the dash flickers lightly at around 5k - 5500 rpms. I was thinking possible voltage increase causing a crossover if regulator was bad, but I will check the ground first. -THanks

By the way - all of the lights work fine it is just the left dash indicator. Also - I thought I would note how cool it is to quickly get input from people scattered around the country and the globe. I love this site.

I believe it's a loose wire and the correlation between the rpm's and the flickering is vibration. The higher the r's, the more vibration, thus causing the loose wire to make and break contact. More specific even is maybe the running light wire is touching the turn signal wire intermittently as vibration increases.

That makes sense, I will take it apart and check. Will likely be a few days before I can get to it.
