Two questions...

First off on powder coating how does that work? I understand how they apply the powder etc, but do they strip/sand everything down first? I wanna powder coat my cans, but one of em has rash and I'm pretty sure coating it will make the rash stand out even more

Also.. I bought some vortex sliders awhile ago haven't put em in yet.. because how are you supposed to torque them back on correctly? I have a bunch of tools but none of them can torque that.. do I just use the allen wrench and tighten the hell out of it?

Any answers/suggestions would rock, thanks!

Hey man I had my arm powder and it had some bad pitting and guages in it. The Guy media blasted it and then used a filler for metals and for the most part on the pitting you can't tell. For the actual scratches you can't tell at all.

They're cut vortex sliders. The outside of the head is a perfect circle and the only socket I can get on it is a 15mm (5/8") but I'm afraid its going to strip it, it grabs but barely. The inside of the head is set up for an allen wrench, and as far as I know I have never seen an allen torque wrench

. Anyone who has installed vortex sliders wanna chime in?

Thats awesome about the powder coating, I'll have to ask the guy if he can do that for me. If not looks like I'll have to find a new guy to coat for me. Thanks!

Go to my previous post (#3). There is a link to allen head sockets. I assume you are using a 3/8" torque wrench, but if you are using a 1/2", just get the different drive size.

Ha er oops somehow I didn't even see your post, odd. And I haven't gone drinking in a few weeks! I have a 1/2" drive, I'll have to check harbor freight, those guys have everything, thanks for the info!

My bad Ty, right now nothing larger than 16x16.

But holla at me because I am saving to fix that.

Usually the oven dictates how large of a part you can bake...as for surface imperfections, you can coat it...sand it down like a basecoat liquid...then re-coat it.

Also like liquid you can sand out dirt or minor scratches then buff. There is powder clear in which case the color coat can have, say 800-1000 girt scratches in it...and the clear will fill and look like glass.
