Starting to get surface rust inside my gas tank....crap.
sad.gif
I'm thinkin that it should be fixable...at least I really hope so. The rust isn't bad...it's just starting up. My biggest concern is that there actually IS rust in the tank.

Do I buy another tank or do I try and treat this one? I prefer to treat this one, as I have spent a pretty penny (close to the tune of $5K) trying to get my baby back up and running.

The other problem: the bike doesn't shift. It's stuck somewhere in the gears...seems like it won't go neutral...and it won't engage in a gear. Could it be that the bike needs to be running to shift it? I think this is the case, but I just want to be sure.

Does it sound like my tranny is shot? I really don't want to pull the covers....I'm not too familiar with that sorta thing. Is this fixable?

Anything?

if you can't start it, rock it back and forth, clutch disengaged while trying to shift. If nothing's wrong, I think it should shift.

Kev

Can't help on shifting, but I would try to treat and recoat the tank you have before spending money on another.

You can recoat the inside of the tank. This comes from storing the bike for long periods with the tank not full. Top it off prior to storage. Someone already addressed the shift problem. My Busa got stuck between gears when I parked on a steep hill. Had to rock it pretty good to get it out of gear.

aaah....I see. Only problem is that I have a dink in my front rim....and a 12 inch chunk missing from my rear.

I'll try though....I tried moving it a lil bit back an forth, but mebbe it wasn't enough.

Pipe....I'll try that route. I hope that it'll fix it.

hrmm.....I guess I'll hafta find a coupla hydro jacks then. I can't roll the bike in her present state.

I guess I should top it off now so that I can at lesat slow the rust buildup, no?

I think the product you are looking for is made by Kreem(?).
It is a 3 part kit that cleans, Rinses, and then conditions.

very cool....I've gotta order me up a set of that.

At least I can be workin on a lil bit of the bike while I'm waiting for parts to come in...

Thanks a bunch, Pipe!
