They didn't do it stock cuz Suzuki figured people wouldn't MOD a 9sec bike, and figured the trans would hold up fine against stock engine power I guess. Shops do it to make it more bulletproof. Hope that helps.

It's not always an issue either. I've never had a problem with my trans yet. Hopefully it stays that way.

Not true. 300hp to the wheel for the last 10k and no problems, stock transmission. I believe most problems arise from improper shifting, resulting in missed shifts. Which inturn starts the wearing away of the dogs.

can i just use the 08 gears since they are already under cut.

bought mine used, dunno if i shift improperly, or if the other guy did, but second gear kicks out occasionally under hard acceleration.

The gears will not interchange. You might be able to swap a complete transmission. The shafts in the gen II are larger.

ok thanks professor,i thought i read that some where.guess it was a rumor.

I could be wrong. I know the output shaft is bigger. I also know there are other changes internal to the gear pack.

My friend put a GENII transmission in a GENI motor. He said there is about a hundred thousanths difference.
I think he shimmed it somehow.
I can't be specific, but he said that it's not a direct swap.
