Use of Golden Spectro oil

Thanks for the feed back.
I'll be calling you Best Cycle Parts when it comes time for me to replace my rear tire,Thanks to VegaDude for finding you.Oh what is the price of the rear tire for the Busa and shipping cost to San Jose,Calif?By any chance do you buy your parts from Tucker Rocky Nempco?
To everyone else I'll be using Golden Spectro like I did since 1989.

I read about all these other oil that the rest of the members are using but has anyone used Golden Spectro Synthetic oil,I've used it on my 89 Gsxr 1100 and my 98TL-R and I feel it has helped out in the shifting and the bike seems to run better/cooler.Is it the price of the oil or which racer/race team is using the oil which makes you want to use the brand that you gals/guys are posting or is it the brand that your local dealer or motorcycle shops carry? The reason I ask is because back in 1989 I use to ride with a bunch of Gixer's riders and zx10's and FZR1000 riders and this one guy who had a 89 Fzr1000 use to use only regular car oil in his bike and he was the fastest rider the longest wheelie rider "1 mile" doing 90mph+ and he said he never had any problem with the engine using regular car oil,he said it was cheaper than motorcycle oil and his bike use to tear up the road and he'd beat all our pants off,now go figure!!!He kept the bike until 92 when he sold it and the new owner had the bike checked out by a bike shop and the bike passed their inspection.

Its not the oil in the bike, it is the rider on the bike that made his faster....The main difference in car oils verus motorcycle oils, is that it does the job of 3 diffrent oils that your car has...transmission, gearbox and as a top end lubricant...The reason it cost so much more , is the extra additive package that is put in to handle the 3 jobs that it has to do....If you have any oil questions you can call Spectro OIls at 1-800-Dial-oil...I'm pretty sure that number still works for them....Hopefully, I answered a question for you, but if I didnt feel free to drop me a line.....

The Auto oil in 89 was SG-SH rated. It was a much better oil (as far as motorcycles go)than the SJ rated auto oils of today. I have had motorcycles for the past 21 years. I change the oil/filter at 1200 mile intervals. I use Spectro Synthetic now (SG-SH rated), but have used a variety of synthetics in the past. I never had an oil related failure in any motorcycle I've ever owned and I ride them hard. Keep clean oil in the bike and keep it at the proper level. I will not use SJ rated oil in my bike after 1000 miles. I will use it for break-in, and I follow the break-in RPM limit up to 1000 miles (Short of putting load on the rings to help seat them).

Don't mess around with automotive oil. You have the most advanced motorcycle on the planet. Put motorcycle specific oil in it. Everyone has there favorates, but it really dosn't matter as long as it is motorcycle specific. Motorcycles put different demands on oils (wet clutch etc). Don't be a cheep skate. You bought the best, now treat it to the best.

Cisco, I have used Golden Spectro for 13 years in two GSXR750's that I owned. My '86 gixer had over 50,000 miles on the original motor when I sold the bike; never had to do any motor work. Worked good in my 97 gixer as well. But just to be different I thought I'd try the new Mobil 1 motorcycle oil. I called up the Rex Oil Co. and ordered the Mobil 1; it cost me $5/qt with the shipping.

And as previously posted, the type of oil you use has nothing to do with a rider's skill level......your friend doing the 1 mile wheelie probably did not have much oil circulating through his motor at the time...

highpwr,my friend that did the wheelie didn't care about the oil being pushed back to the bottom half of the bike when he was in that 1 mile wheelie position,he told me the bike is bullet proof plus he was a short fat guy 5'6" tall and he could ride that bike.I do believe the 89 FZR1000 was a great bike at that time and I figure the R-1 is at least twice or three times better. As for golden spectro I like the oil but not the price per quart.Anyways thanks all for the feed back.Ride Safe.

After breakin my zx 11 in i used the golden spectro and had 17000 trouble free miles. I'm a believer...........Its going in the busa in about 400 more miles. Make sure your bike is broken in before using.
