Rode out the Garden Highway to the boatramp, down to the airport then up I. 5. Thought I'd get some miles on Big Red, but boy-howdy it was nuts on that bridge and causeway over the Sacramento River and the following flats. I turned around in Woodland. Screw it. But coming back was even worse! The Bus was getting real squirrely under me.

I slowed down to 65-70 mph, -- hate it when that happens -- I feel like a sitting duck. But the bike was taking up a lot of lane space, moving side-to-side.

Anyone have some good "wind" stories? And advice when you run into those gusty days and areas?

Thanks!

Sounds familiar... I try not to "fight it" just let the top of the bike lean where it wants, while keeping body upright... I find it helps you keep the same line instead of being blown all over the place... Just have a fairly relaxed grip with arms and legs...

Hi Tom, my first ever ride on my Busa was around this time last year, rode up to Chico & back fightin heavy winds all the way back, man were my shoulder & neck muscles strained, think I've gotten much more used to the riding position of the Busa but still don't care too much for heavy winds.  Hey we got a ride coming up in two weeks, gonna be a good one, you are welcome to join, a group of us will be leavin Sac about 8:00am, here is a link to that thread.

It's all what you're use to.  My last trip to CA I was out riding with BigO when we hit some serious wind.  I was getting blown all over the place.  Here I was riding with a death grip, I looked to my left and there was Owen taking my picture.

Nothing like involuntary lane changes.

Yeah, I'd like to go fellas.  I almost never ride with anyone.   Riding is my time to think.  But I would sincerely like to meet other Bus riders.  I musta seen 20 Harley guys today, and a bunch of jes'-like-'em's on Honda cruisers.  Busa riders are an exclusive group, and I like it that way... -L-

Had some bad winds the otherday, I had 150 miles to travel it got to were I kept the bike leaned over sitten on the side of the tank looking over the end of my mirror just to go in a strate line.

My new K8 likes to dance around a little too on really gusty days or when I grt stuck behind a big truck in the turbulance. I know they did a ton of wind tunnel testing on the 08 to make it streamline at high speeds and go 200 mph but cross winds and turbulance aren't the same and a little more driving attention is needed to keep the big girl in place and going straight. Its not like you're gonna get blown off the road or anything though.

yeah the winds sucked today. took the k8 too the store and that was fun. i hate the wind there does seem to be a lot of wind in Sacramento

Yup, I agree. I have a spot on the highway when I drive home at night that usually has some pretty good cross winds. So just relax and the bike will be less squirley.
