Not to justify the Sheriff's actions I think it is f'd up but those are the things that can happen if you decide to run. If you run you may loose.

That's just wrong. I can't believe the deputy's actions were found to be appropriate.

maybe there is more to the story but all he was convicted of was: 1) eluding police, 2)reckless driving, and 3)driving without a motorcycle license...it would be interesting to know why they started a high speed pursuit through traffic (which would be more dangerous to the general public than just letting him go on his way) and what justification they had for physically knocking him off the road...i thought that was pretty much reserved for felony stops of those considered to be dangers to the general public

You run you pay! Think about if it was not a police cruiser, but your family in the car that was hit. Then who would you blame?

The motorcyclist was wrong for running, but the deputy was wrong his actions as well. He may have well just pulled a shotgun out and shot at the tires as he went by.

I belive the deputy thought he would force the motorcyclist off the road and into the grass where he would have likely layed it down. Instead he tried to stay on the road/shoulder and got clipped.

$7,000 damage to the police car? WOW! The squid was wrong to run, and should pay for his stupid actions! But should the price be a hit by the polcie car? I guess it's always easy to "Monday morning quarterback", but the actions to stop him do seem a little extreme.

I'am not sure how I feel about their stopping proceedure. On one hand it seems a little extreme, but then on the other is: How do you stop a motorcycle that is evading arrest

? If you do nothing (and you all know this is true) and the policy goes out that if you run, the Cops will not chase, then the street will be just ONE BIG RACE TRACK

. You guys know if you see lights behind you and you can just do a little speeding then, YOUR NOT GONA STOP ! So, what do they do ?

I believe he intended to hit the bike... just too bad he was caught on tape lying about it. The officer's concern for his cruiser is genuine due to the strict guidelines of many departments regarding damage to police vehicles.

Of course mommy is upset... why would they use such force to stop her wonderful son? He's such a good boy, and would never hurt anyone! He was eluding police, on foot, in a car, on a motorcycle... all the same. Had they not stopped him, he might have hit an ambulance transporting a woman in labor and killed her; or maybe crashed into a gas station and caused an explosion killing several customers; or maybe hit your WIFE while she was driving your SON home from baseball practice.

He ran... he got stopped... he was conscious and only complaining of an injured leg. Oh so sad that the ambulance too a whole 12-mins to arrive. Too friggin' bad for him. Let him lay there with an open fracture and think about what just happened! He's a scumbag who made a bad decision and suffered the consequences of curbside justice!

I think the deputy might have been trying to squeeze the rider onto the soft shoulder, as was said earlier... It does suck that he lied about it when he said that he was stopped...

At first, I thought his cruiser might have been rolling forward and maybe he was looking to the right for the suspect and didn't realize he was moving. You know, like when you're stopped at a light or in a parking lot and you "think" you're stopped but you're actually rolling. When I watched the footage again a few times I decided that wasn't the case.

just my personal opinion (and i could be wrong) but i believe it goes back to why he was being pursued in the first place...if he was an armed robber, mugger, rapist, fugitive from justice, etc. that would be one thing...if he had only popped a wheelie, gone 45 in a 35, etc. and some over zealous wanna-be decided this would be a chance to "teach that boy he can't do that in my town" it is totally different...but like hotrod said earlier, being a "monday morning quarterback" is a lot easier than being in the middle of a developing situation...no, i don't want the roads to become racetracks but i don't want a leo to knock me off my bike with his car if he catches me speeding either

For you guys who agree with the police,Ive got a little story. About two weeks ago in Kansas City an old lady was driving the wrong way on an exit ramp and killed a sport bike rider. No charges were filled against the lady( at the time)because the the police said the bike was probably speeding, with no proof(that I herd of).So it can happen to any one of us,running from the police or not.

You know... in a perfect world where all cops are honest and law abiding themselves I could see it... but this ain't a perfect world, and I haven't met a completly honest cop yet.

There is a reason that police don't use spike strips in motorcycle chases as well as don't shoot out motorcycle tires.. because it's too dangerous.

Police are prosecutors... they aren't the judge and they damn sure aren't the jury.

This cop should go to jail.

In my opinion:

It’s obvious the LEO was trying to, at least, run him off the road. I think that the LEO definitely did not have a problem with knocking him off the bike and then lying about it. I find the lie disturbing, but the dude on the bike was a felon trying to elude police. That was not their first choice but the guy was not going to stop, the chase had already lasted for miles.

So, I think the cop did what he had to do. Mom will probably try to sue anyway. Remember what Chris Rock said about getting you’re a$$ beat from the cops. Don’t break the law and don’t run from the cops because when they catch you they are going to bring an a$$ whipin with em.

The idiot shouldnt have ran in the first place!!! He better thank GOD he didnt get hurt worse, killed, or kill someone else. What a loser. I dont feel sorry for him.

Well.... This is my observation. Was it right? HELL NO!! Why? Well, watching the video of the chase in action, the bike was gone. Now, if the LEO had a plate#, then drop him a visit later. As for Pig that pulled out (I use that term as a put down in this case, cause he doesn't deserve to be a LEO in my view) he shouldn't have done anything. Why? How could he have known it was the same bike? The reason I think this is, a few months ago, Local PD had an APB out for a yellow sportbike... well, a local pig decided it was me (because I rode a yellow CBR) and told them it was me (I know the guy, he had my name, info, etc... I USED to consider the guy a friend). So, I get a call from the PD, and have to go through convincing them it wasn't me. Now, had I been on the bike, and the other yellow bike decided to run, and they happened across me and ran into me because they said I was running... would that have been fair?
