***Warning On Leather Repair - Barnacle Bill***

A good friend of mine low-sided & tore some holes in the Keprotec in his jacket. After consulting w/ a few people that have had repair work done on leathers, he sent his jacket & pants to Barnacle Bill. He was quoted $150 total to install a full circumference zipper, repair the damaged Keprotec in the sleeve, & the leather where the seam had burst. He had them add a speed hump for an additional $75. New estimate $225.

He ended up paying over $300 & below is the quality of work he received. They refused to discount or even accept the leathers back to repair it better. They patched the Keprotec in the sleeve instead of replacing the panel, the seems are sewn on the outside, looks like by hand, & there is glue all over. They charged him $25 per patch on the Keprotec for 2 patches instead of replacing the panel. They charged him $60 for the zipper & half a$$ added some fabric to try to make it fit.

pretty sad... you would think in the tightening economy, a service biz would go out of its way to make sure clients were happy..

Ridiculous. Thanks for the heads up. I won't give them any of my business. You should E-mail them this tthread when all is said and done. See what they have to say after that.

I could have done a better job then that with a bone needle and some sinew

Man that's unexceptable! I had some zipper problems some time back with a Fieldsheer textile jacket and when I called them they just sent me all the zippers I needed for free. Not bad considering the jacket was (?years) old.

Man, sorry to hear. Not the first time I have read bad things about Barnacle Bill customer service. They will never get my business and I will let everyone I can know of the shotty work they do. Hope you can get it fixed right.

I use a local shoe, handbag repairman. So far he has done outstanding jobs for 10 $ each visits. Not the cosmetically correct, but thing stays on right places.

That's why I don't have mine repaired if they are riped open like that. For a little more (and LOTS more of ease of mine) you can buy another NEW jacket

Infact, I've never seen (except the orginal factory) do any repairs that I would rely on, in an off :beerchug:

Thanks for the warning I will pass it along to everyone I know an get the word out via e-mail about just how much these people suck. Seems like an easy win in court depending on how they worded the repair order, but that work is so bad it may not really matter. Sorry for your pain people have had their business burned down for less than that, good luck but it looks like you got ass raped sorry.:(
