Anyone know what kind of snake this is? He was a slow mover and not very aggresive. Maybe he had just eaten.

Yep, corn snake. They usually aren't very aggressive and make great pets.

Yea, a corn snake, but to make sure, just stick your hand down there and if he bites you and leaves two itty bitty holes in your hand then we're wrong

I didn't kill him, I like having snakes around. They keep the frog population down.

Looks like he's a corn snake. I just wonder where he is now. I guess I better keep my shoes on in the back yard now.

Just call him "Corny" and feed him lizards and field mice.
Do snakes eat ants? The pile of wood I found him in was full of big ants. He may have been feasting on them. The ants have now been cremated so the snake will have to find dinner elsewhere. He's probably living in the large oak tree above where the pile of wood was.

I doubt corn snakes eat ants. Small birds, lizards, mice, and other small creatures with more nutritional value than ants (well maybe chocolate covered ants!).

Around my yard, I just watch for water mocassins since they don't always have a sense of humor.

He was probably feeding on whatever was eating the ants.
