Dog is broken.  Bike is broken. Should just go back to bed an' try again tomorrow.

anyway...washed the bike yesterday, same way I always do.

Cleaned the chain, yadda yadda yadda.

Now the speedo doesn't work.

have I caused a short in the speedo pick-up near the countershaft sprocket?

maybe you accidentally washed all the speedometer fluid out. Try refilling it.

Hey Rubba,

Just went out and had a poke around my speed sensor, looks like a regular hall effect sensor, not really much to go wrong in it. It should just be a hall transistor in sealed in there. No connector close to get wet.

If some water has got in there just take it off, clean it and try to get a dispersent like WD-40 in the top. It should be a sealed unit but fluid can creep down the leads somtimes.

If the transistor has popped its cork there's nothing much you can do.

Just an idea.

Good luck mate.

PS Just in case, if you can find a mate with a busa it might pay to swap sensors for a quick check before you spend any cash or mess about too much, 1 plug and 2 screws looks like a 15min job.

ya, thx Rocko.

I've got the thing apart, cleaned eveything up.

It looks ok. My guess is something(WD,WATER,ETC) got in the transistor...not sure how, looks very well sealed.

Speedo still has power(needle jumps at ignition "ON") so its somewhere in between the sensor an' the gauge.

I like yer idea of a swap out, 'cept I'm just about the only muddar fuggar around here who owns one (busa).

I'll have to somehow config a test for it, or bite the bullet an' pay up.

thx man. hav a well read 1...RSD.

Check your connections!
There is a plug about 12 inches up the wire from the sensor. Check it for contact. you have three wires, one hot, one ground and one is the sensor wire. check for power and ground! Make sure the connection is clean and dry. Also, unplug the connector to the back of the speedo. Hit it with a hairdryer for a couple of minutes to make sure there is no moisture. Next step would be to try another speedo if you have access to one!

Wuz up my brutha Rub, first question, do you have an aftermarket gauge covers installed, 2nd has your gauges been apart for any reason ?
