wastegate on mr turbo systems

I just noticed your posts. I've been trying to update an old Mr Turbo kit as well so check past threads I've initiated for more info. The link below is to one of my threads which contains pics of our wastegate...

As an fyi, the inlet is 37mm. Otherwise there are no markings on the wastegate at all so I never could find out who manufactured these units. You could always try calling Mr Turbo.

bubba, did you by some chance find out anything more about the mr turbo wastegate? I'd be interested. Thanks. Dave

does anyone know what brand wastegate mr turbo is using on his systems?

MR.TURBO - Motorcycle turbocharging, horsepower, performance, racing

the one on my system sort of looks like this one, except it is not blue(all silver). i will snap a pic of mine later when i get to the shop in the morning. perhaps one of you know what it is.

Terry Kizer makes his own wastegate, which is just okay. It is a piston-style gate with NO diaphragm, and it is a single-port gate. You can adjust the single boost level that you are going to have with this gate using the bolt sticking out of the end of the wastegate. You can turn it into a dual-port gate by drilling a hole in the end cap and screwing another air fitting in. Then this gate is still going to suck because when you apply air to the high side of the gate its just going to leak past the piston - theres not even some kind of piston ring in there or anything. That means you'll never be able to use any type of air/solenoid boost controller, like the MSBC-1 or the AMS-1000 without sourcing your supply pressure from the plenum, which is never the best way.

If you have any choice do not use this gate. Go with TIAL, Innovate, anything but this. This component is one of the many reasons Mr. Turbo has not been the best choice as far as Hayabusas are concerned.:beerchug:

Thanks Ron. Actually I don't intend to use the Mr Turbo wastegate. I was just wondering if he did find out anything because I tried to do the same thing a year or so back, and curiosity got the best of me. In fact I'm working on replacing every one of his components and just posted a new topic (Wastegate Recommendation) because a new wastegate is next on my list.
