Weekend from Hell

So I probably had the worst weekend in my entire life. Friday afternoon I pick up a brand new 2009 Silver Busa and all is very well. I then go to dinner with my family and my truck gets a flat tire. Not really that big of deal it happens. Well the family finally leave Sunday and I go to my storage unit to pick up my trailer with everything I own in it. I just moved here from Florida and to keep all my stuff in the trailer until I find a place of my own.

So when I went to the boat and RV storage place where I keep my trailer it was gone. I called to report it stolen and the cops all ready had it towed to a tow yard because they found it on the side of the road. The ramp door locks were busted open and everything inside is long gone.

Since everything is gone I'll have to replace some work related stuff before I can even think about getting a new helmet and other riding gear. Worst case scenario will be that I won't be riding before fall since all my work stuff is gone and I'll have to replace that stuff first so I can continue making money.

I don't have insurance of any kind on it because I opted out of the insurance the storage place offered and the trailer was recovered so I can't get any money for that. I also canceled my homeowners insurance when my house sold back in February so I'm out well over 15,000 dollars! :(

Sorry about the rant and thanks for listening. I had to tell somebody before I exploded in anger.

Sucks bro. You may still have a claim against the storage companies insurance. I would look into it.

Sorry to here that man. Wish I had some extra gear to send your way. Maybe the Busa gods will help and send some your way. Hope you can get everything straight with your stuff. Storage plac should still be held responsible for letting the trailer leave without checking of ownership first.

Yeah, the RV place has at least 10 cameras covering all angles which is why i picked the place but of course they only keep three days of video. Who checks on their stuff every three days? Two weeks minimum...I'm definitely talking to a lawyer.

Best of luck to you.

and they dont feel guilty or any shame in taking someone else's stuff, that really sucks.
What a day you had,I wish you the best to recovery.

Sorry to hear about this. Did you take any pictures, or record any serial numbers, of you goods? Hopefully you did and kept it with you. I hope things work out for you.

really hate to hear these kind of things. there is a good chance someone might have a spare helmet laying around, maybe some other gear as well.

Thanks everyone. I spent most of today at the police station filling out reports. I still had 5 of my rifles and shotguns in there and that's what worries me the most. I have serial numbers on all that stuff but I hate to think that my guns are now in the hands of idiots. My tools were my other big lost, I had serial numbers on some things but I should have done better. I know better too coming from a family of cops. I know how to protect my stuff and I just got lazy and complacent.

Hopefully you guys will learn from my mistakes and take pictures, record serial numbers, and engrave your initials or names into everything you can. I'm now looking for a program that runs on the mac platform to use so I can start recording my remaining items in greater detail, all 10 items or so. ???
