Ok guys, as some of you know i just sold the KAT and making my way to a BUSA.

Is there anything specific problem areas I should look for on a GEN I or is it just routine bike stuff like any other bike??

EVERY non-bussa owner either wants to race you, or give you that look like you just stole thier girl, or shot thier dog

the gen 1 in my opinion is practically flawless. watch for the 99-00 subframe crack recall! some have complaints with the 2nd gear not engaging on the more current models. do a "search" and you'll find all of the answers you need. congrats on the new ride! :beerchug:

there was never a recall in the USA for subframes....ever.

I believe there is a problem with the starters through 2001, but someone else can give you better details (mine is an '07).

Other than that, the Busa has a serious problem with rear tires wearing out prematurely. You'd think Suzuki would've fixed that by now, but I hear it's actually an even bigger problem with the Gen II. :D

They run hot an heavy traffic an there is mod to deal with that problem. an there is an issue with 2nd gear on some to keep an eye out for when you are shopping if the bike has it. or so I have read mine has been fine since day 1..... Aside from overheating in heavy traffic got no complaints:thumbsup:

They coudnt figure out the right paint color until 07 ( Candy Sonoma Red ) Before and after that it was just guessing.

Thanks for all your replies. Im looking at a Gen I , more specifically 2003 - 2005. There is an 04 im quite interested right now. Its the purple and black paint scheme.

i bet as long as you get a bike with a good previous owner you will be fine. good luck. i like that purple and black
