whats the best product for removing clear coat

i am wanting to strip the old crusty clear coat off my zx-11 rims, any suggestions on what to use?

I miss my ZX 11. How about some paint stripper.

well i tried some, im at work and cant remember the name of it but it didnt touch it.

Just the clearcoat or everything? If you want to completely strip it, aircraft alumin paint stripper in can works great. Spray on and leave it for about 30-60mins and scrape it off with a plastic scraper.

they are factory polished with clear coat on them, the clear is from 1993 and its in poor condition.

We always used the Wal Mart brand of Aircraft Remover. Cheap, easy to get, and will remove clearcoat in just a few minutes. Brush it on, wait a few, hose it off. Just don't get it on your skin, it'll burn you.
