Let me start out by introducing myself.

My name is Ron aka: BusaZ71. I have kept up with you guys for over a year now and recently joined. Great site by the way.

Whats up with the seat height's on all the newer bikes?
I am 5'5 with a 28" inseam and I struggle on most bikes. By most I mean all bikes. I am looking forward to getting an 07' Busa, for a few diff reasons. One being the busa has pretty much the lowest seat height of any bike out there well at least compared to the gixxer 1000, R1 and the Honda 1000 RR. I really like all of the above mentioned bikes but they are so damn tall.
To make a long story short I would like to know if there is anyone around my height with a busa preferebly or any of the above mentioned bikes and what is it like?

all reply's are welcome and thx.

I'm 5'10 and i was on the ball of my feet when it was stock. I rode it straight home from the dealer and lowered it to the 3rd hole. It sit much better for me then but i wanted a little more room so i cut my own seat. Do a search you will find it.

I have yet to bottom out on the rear fender like some people on here do. I still have to lower the front with a triple tree. Even as it sits i cant go over speed bumps though

That's funny, because I chose the Busa because I'm a bigger guy (6'3" 220). Those little litre bikes made me look like the proverbial monkey humpin' a football.

Of course, I'm rasing the rear on my bike.

At 5'3" my wife had the same problem with seat height. While trying to find a bike she could stand flat-footed on, we looked at nearly everything (including, God forbid, HD's!). Several Cruisers at seat heights of around 25-26" and fit her, but she hates cruisers so those were out. We ended up getting her a Kawi Z750S and having a lowering kit installed. The kit brought it down some inches or so and it fit her perfectly. You should be able to do the same with the Busa.

I'm 5'8 with a 30" inseam and can almost flat foot it with both feet. Just got to watch my footing when backing up. I have one foot down at stops and the other on the shift or brake peg.

At 5' 11" I had no problem with the stock Busa allthough I did lower it to middle hole on dog bone (Muzzys Dogbone= 1 1/4" drop on middle hole) so my wife could be more comfortable when she rode it. I only lowered the rear and can still clear speed bumbs no problem. My wife stands 5' 4" and we allways wear boots when we ride. No tenny's.
Hope this helps.

just lower it a bit to fit ya...

Ron,

I'm 5' 5" 150 lbs with a 29" inseam.

I have a corbin seat along with a triple tree clamp.

My feet don't come close to flat footed at a stop but I have no problems holding the bike up.

I have leaned it about 15 degrees (maybe a little more) a few times by accident while trying to park it and that is about the point of no return for me before I have to decide my balls or the bike.

Tough call!!

Most of the time I will set it on the side stand and lean it on me to move it.

32 degrees this morning. Waiting for my gerbing classic electric gloves to come in any day now.
