Which rear tire?

Need to replace my rear tire at 3600 miles. Bought bike used about 300 miles ago.

Should I stick with the stock type, or are there better alternatives still friendly with the stock front?

We need to know your riding style. Some work better for corners other for drag racing. Some people even want to get more than 1,000 miles out of there tires.

I also would like to know. I just moved to california (2 miles from the rock store) and being one from the dragin south I would like to know of a good tire for the mountains and decent life on the highways. I've even been debating going to a 180 on the rear. Plus if you have any good settings for the busa let me know. Thanks

I'm looking for high mileage, good wet and dry traction. Not a racer or much of a canyon carver.

I'm considering the following possibilites:
MRS RENN 190/50ZR17 REAR
SPORTEC M-1 190/50ZR17 RR
MEZ4 RADIAL 190/50ZR17
MEZ3 190/50ZR17 REAR
D204 S/MAX 190/50ZR17 R
D207 S/MAX 190/50ZR17 R
CONTI-FRCE 190/50ZR17 RR
AV36 190/50ZR17 REAR
AV40 190/50ZR17 REAR
AV40 190/50ZR17 REAR V300
BT012SS 190/50ZR17
BT56R 190/50ZR17 "J" TYPE
BT020R 190/50ZR17
BT012R-G 190/50ZR17 73W
BT012R-E 190/50ZR17 73W
100XRTL 190/50ZR17 REAR
EVO 190/50ZR17 REAR
MTR24 190/50ZR17 REAR

Any recommendations?

but aren't the bt012's a soft compound rubber? bt010's or even better bt020's if you want higher milage out of your rear tire. WR

I am trying to get a rear replacement Bridgestone tire BT56 with no luck so far. So I plan on replacing both front and rear with a set of Michelin Macadam 100X. They came stock on a Katana 600 I had and they wore well. they may not be a high performance Dunlop or Michelin Pilot but I require a tire that last longer.

the pilot road is supposed to stick and last about as long as the macadam....gonna get one soon...for the rear....as long as you run nearly the same compound in the rear as you run in the front anything should be good.

I'd use one of those also....

haha.. sorry.. I think you listed every tire that will work on the 'busa except the pilots, and macadams. haha.

I will probably replace the rear with the factory this time and maybe try the macadams when the front, and rear both wear out relatively close to each other.

If front is O.K. for now, got Bridgestone BT-020. I would never suggest running unmatched sets of tires on any bike (Bridgestone front- dunlop rear etc) as it can really mess up handling and make the bike feel like a harley - well almost. A BT-020 should match up well with the stock Bridgestone, and last for the remainder of the life of the front tire, under street conditions. When the rear wears out again, change both tires for a matched set. I just put a BT-020 on mine, btw.

Tried a set of Shinkos. These are the best all around tires that I have run. 190 is a little wider in the back then BT 010 front is ever so slightly narrower. Great for straight and twisties. Grabs very powerful.

Gararnet is right never run a mismatch set of tires you are are asking for trouble. I run the MEZ4 RADIAL 190/50ZR17 and the 120 in the front I get good mileage out of them and they handle great in the canyons.

Hey bro, how long are those shinkos lasting?
To new to tell how the mileage will be. I was changing tires with a lot of tread left on the tires with BT10's, the way I right I like all the advantages that i can get.
