I was just woundering because I just snapped my output shaft off my velocity racing stage 1 turbo busa and now I want to build a nice engine that will make close to or better than 350 horsepower. So for all you guys that are at or above this level of power, I was woundering if you might want to share with me what is needed to get their. I know the basic's like Pistons, Rods, Backcut trans, Heavy duty output shaft, but it's the small things that I have to get is where I need some more knowledge on. So what is needed, what brands to get and where to get them, these are my 3 main questions..

I am making 360 on pump. My motor combo consists of Carrillo H Beam Rods (SPS bolts), Wossner turbo Pistons (9:1 CR), ARP Head Studs, ARP HD Clutch Springs, SS Valves, Heavy Duty Valve Springs, OEM Bearings, billet shift shafts & Gen I forks, Liquid/Air Plenum & Heat Exchanger, RCC stage 1 kit. I personally like Carillo Rods, although Wossner & Crower are probably just as good, and if i'm not mistaken Wossner rods are the cheapest. Pistons I recommend Wossner all the way. I'm not a builder/tuner, I just abuse the bike lol. I'm sure you will get much better feed back soon.

I'm def doing the wossner pistons and was considering the wossner rods, i want to make this bike unstreetable so I figured the 350 mark was perfect. Thank you for your input though, helps me with my list of items to get.

Frank tuned my bike with my kit now, came out great. I will be contacting him soon, was just woundering if anyone had any secrets, suggestions, tips, etc...

well i'm already at a stage 1 so I quess it should only take another $3,000 to build the engine and get it tuned, I can go higher if need be..

Well I know I will need pistons, rods, shaft, tranny work, valve springs, retainers, secondary injectors. Am I missing more stuff..

Depending on ultimate goal will really decide cost, I know Frank posted about a Gen 1 Busa he did for Mirock Series, had 325hp without secondary setup. Stock pistons when used with spacer plate have been proven reliable upto around 450hp without failure on other turbo setups.

These 2 stories will explain what you need for the basics. And yes, Frank is a good builder.

I've built many nitrous motors all over 350hp. I'm building a new 600hp motor and I wouldn't ever build them without the items in these articles.

ur probably gonna want a boost controller and Co2 to control it. u might want to go with a multi stage lockup to. it adds up quick. Frank has never steered me wrong and will tell u what u NEED and what you may WANT while the bike is there and apart.

Do most builds loose the balancer at some point? assuming that you have the rotating assembly balanced...

Well I would even settle for just over 300 horsepower, I don't want to make a pure drag bike being that I love to ride and usually put a good amount of miles on my bikes throughout the riding season. Frank, what would you recomend for 300 horsepower. You tuned my bike and I won't take it to anyone else being that your only 3 hours away and one of the best around..

Once APE balances my cranks, I always take the balancer out. You can then insert the balancer shaft plug from Schnitz Racing.
