Why is a gsxr1000 more "jumpy" than a busa?

I have had my busa for around a month and now its pretty predictable to me as to how it handles in terms of the throttle, brakes etc. This guy i went out riding with today has a 2004 gsxr1000 and wanted to swap bikes for a few minutes. So i let him take my month old busa and jumped on his gsxr.Man that thing was completely stock but accerlerated like a bat outta hell.I accidentally went a little too heavy on the throttle and the front wheel lifted like a foot off of the ground.Scared the crap outta me.Lol one thing learnt.A busa is much safer for a newbie than the liter bikes.

Now try riding his GSXR 1000 for more then an hour or so...........=) thats what made me switch over to the busa.......plus play with him on the fwy......you will get the best of him after 100mph......not recomending this, im just sayin....=)...U really wanna ride a jumpy out of the hole canyon bike try a 750 gixxxx...so perfectly balenced with a power delivery that still knocks your sox off....u have to be a little bit lighter of a guy though.......a guy i ride with has one and hes pullin 60-65 mph wheelies.......:p

Yes, the 1000 is hyper...
But don't you love the torque the Busa has compared the the 1000.

The wheelbase is just shorter and with the power it makes it lift off easier. I prefer the Busa for the opposite reason. The harder it is to keep the front end down the harder it is to launch.

The bike is also very weight sensetive. I went out from a roll with my Busa and my bud's 1000.He first edges me out about a bike length then I eventually reel him in (both bikes modded). I'm 245 and he weighs 175. Heres the interesting part. We switch bikes and do it again from about a 40mph roll and he litterally destroys me with about a 2 bike length start and steadily pulls away. No disrespect, but what makes the 1000 so quick is its power to weight ratio. More emphasis on the weight factor. This has been discussed before. I personally prefer the torque and comfort of the Busa for all round kick ass fun!!

Trust me man I know this all too well. My buddy rides a 1kRR and we both got them modded. He will get about a bike length ahead of me from 2nd gear to the end of third but after the shift into fourth I start reeling him back in. BUT heres the thing I am 300 even and hes about 185ish. If another rider his size was on my Busa I really feel it would be all she wrote for the 1000. I just don't trust anyone enough to ride my bike and find out.

lighter and shorter wheel base = front wheel off the ground

That, plus its shorter gearing.
The final drive might be shorter but the transmission overall Ratios are higher on the Gixxers in the lower gears.
To me the gears are quite noticably longer on my Gixxer verses the Busa.

The reason is the shorter wheelbase, lighter bike and front end, overall a quite a bit higher power to weight ratio verses the Busa.
I went +2 on my back sprocket on my Gixxer and the front end wont stay down, actually it gets on my nerves , I am looking at getting a longer chain to help.
Its fun but not in 3rd gear when I am just trying to gain some speed!

Sat on the Gixxer 600 at the NYC Cycle Show, and have to admit--it looks and feels nice! Would be a great second bike to compliment the 'Busa.

I have both a busa and a GSXR1000 K5. My son also has a K5 Gixxer and before I upgraded from the 05 to the 06 busa we had some play time between my busa and his gixxer. His gixxer dynoed at 154 HP and 77 lbs. torque. I have found the busa and the new gixxers are just about equal in performance. We stay neck and neck with the gixxer pulling the busa maybe a bike length up to 160. I never tried it faster than that.

My personal preference is the gsxr1000. I ride that thing every day and save the bus for trips and weekend group rides. The bus is a fun bike and possibly the best all around bike made. However, if you are looking for the fun factor, the gixxer has it beat hands down. The bus is a better straight line & top speed machine, no question, but everything else has to go to the gixxer. Wheelies, stoppies, braking, twisties, track days, stunt, all go to the gixxer.

Personally, after owning three gixxer 1K's I find the gixxer just as comfy as the busa. I feel no different after all day in the saddle riding the gixxer than I do riding the busa.

I do admit the busa is a bit more manageable than the gixxer. It takes a bit more skill to milk the jixxer than it does the busa. New riders have far less problems with the busa. The busa is just a gentle beast with nice manners.
