Will Gen1 fuel pump assembly fit in Gen2?

I would like to use the complete fuel pump assembly out of my Gen1 tank and put it in the gen2. Anybody know if this will work? Seems like as long as it bolts in there should be no problem.

I think i have seen this asked before and the answer was no. I for the life of me can not remember why or what was different.

I probably should have been more specific. I'm really only wanting to swap out the tank on a Gen1 with a Gen2 tank. The pump assembly, wiring, and plumbing will all remain Gen1, as is the bike.

Maybe this is an indication. The replacement fuel cell seems to be for Gen1 and Gen2

The Only differences in a gen1 and gen2 frame is; the gen1 has the mounts for the center stand, and the gen2 does not.
And the gen2 has two extra holes in the frame, one of each side near the front bottom of the gas tank, the 2 holes are for fasteners for the fairings on each side.
Everything else is the same.
The exterior shape of the gas tanks and fuel pump parts are different, but the gen1 and gen2 tanks will bolt into both the gen1 and gen2 frames...which is why that fuel cell fits both gen1 and gen2.

if i remember corr.
mech. the gen1 pump may fit 1:1 into the gen2 tank
but the gen1 pump has 4 wires and the gen2 only 3 into the same looking connector.

so there has something to be changed i guess, but no clue how
