Would you ride this tire?

I noticed this finally and Avon is replacing it free of charge for me but my dealer acted like he's seen tires like this for 20 years and it no big deal. Does your tire have any irregularities in it when you look straight down at it?

What would you do?

1.) Switch it out when the new tire arrives?

2.) Take the new tire home when it arrives and change it when the tire above wears out?

That looks like it is only on one side.
Does it look like that all the way around or just that spot?

How many miles on it? and is it doin' the shimmy shake?

If he's seen that for 20 years, then I would assume he is an accessory to murder when those tires end up shredding on the highway. I'm probably being a bit overdramatic, but I would never ride a tire like that, especially on a two wheel machine. Looks like belt separation to me.

Mind you, I've driven worse on the rear of a cage, but that's a bit different.

I wouldnt ride with it. Your tires are the only thing that keeps you upright, a blow out at speed is sure fall.

Nah...that doesn't look correct. Either mounted incorrectly or defective tire. Ask for replacement

Just think about it.

Good point brother...they are already sending me a replacement. I had enough tread depth and they didn't really question it. New replacement in 4 or 5 days. Avon has always treated me right. I had a rear tire they replaced for free last year because of their "Road Hazard Warranty".

No, if it is a noticeable defect I would replace it ASAP.
Just my opinion - always caution on the side of safe.

If you spin the tire while looking at it just like in the picture, it's all the way abound the tire on that side.

Unless you ride a long sweeping right hand curve to work and a long sweeping right hand curve coming home - that is not normal wear.

I think my business with Avon, or at the very least, that style of tire would cease. There are way too many good tires and good tire manufacturers out there to act like their free replacement is doing you a service.

every front tire I have ever taken off one of my bikes looks somewhat cupped or unevenly worn.. nothing very dramatic but certainly not perfectly round..

photo is pretty fuzzy to me, sort of hard to see what you have going on..

It's just worn out, motorcycle street tires wear on the left side first.

Read this.
Motorcycle Tire Wear

cheers

It isn't worn out....I just put it on at the end of the riding season last year. I took a 600 mile trip last weekend and riding so long it drove me nuts and did more investigating, then I saw the problem.
