It seems every holiday season has its 'tickle me elmo' or newest have to have object.

What are you gifting this year for their kids?

My boss mentioned some kind of doll he picked up for his daughter that seems to be a hot item this year.

Coal is a big hit this season

xbox Kinect is the big technological gift this year.. which kicks the Wii to the curb... I dont know the age of you kids but hell there are some really really young kids getting into video games

my 4yr. old is losing his mind over "stinky the garbage truck" by tonka. i can't wait 'til x-mas get's here cause he is driving me nuts asking about it.

Yea my boss got himself the 4gb xbox with kinect. That seems to be one of the big ones for sure.

I tried to turn the clock back to the 1800's one time. I wanted everybody in the family to give a gift only if they had made it themselves.

It didn't wash. :firing: Lazy bastids.

I whent ahead with my idea anyway.I welded up cool hanging basket holders.Took 1/4 round stock and hand bent it for names which got welded to the top. One said "Donna's Garden". It still sits there today:thumbsup:

I was hoping to lose some of the commercialism accociated with this time of year.

Would have been neat to see gramma knitt a sweater,or have a 2 year scribble out a card.

RSD.

my grandma will occasionally make a quilt for my wife and i. always our favorite gift. she made one for our as yet unborn child, i can't wait to see it.

Do not whatsoever buy that stupid fushigi thing .... my mother-in-law bought it for my son and he opened it since she was leaving for a few weeks visit to my sister-in-laws

iPads

But I nixed the iPad and got this for the wife:

Same price, exponentially more storage space and it's a real computer, not an oversized ipod. Best of both worlds.

I only hope they get it to me by Christmas. It's going to be cutting it close.

My grandma passed away several years ago, and I still have two quilts she made for me: One for my high-school graduation, one for my wedding (mistake, divorced). Hold onto yours. Mine are starting to fall apart, but I still cherish them.

Regarding Christmas presents: My seven-year-old daughter has been all about Mindflex for a couple of years. She's still not getting it, lol. American Girl dolls and Zhu-Zhu pets come up a lot too. The Kinect is in the top of my closet, and I can't wait until Santa sets it all up on the 24th.

My grandma usually does the quilt thing. I've had three from her since baby-hood to adulthood. My g/f and i don't do much gifting like you mentioned RSD, we try to get away from the commercialization. For us, it's about the wonderful connections we have between other humans in our lives. At the same time, we try to give things to one another that are of value (i.e., personalized motorcycle plate).

we are first time parents since our daughter was born last year on dec 4th, we still havent stop giving her toys since her birthday, her latest is a quad, and she is stunting on that thing around the house, only 1 year old and she has:
3 bikes park side by side
a motorized quad that she loves and is a good stunter
a princess tent and paylground for older kids that she sleeps in during her naps.
and every other talking leap frog toy for her age, and she actually uses her vocabulary to reprimend the dog...:poke:
its amazing how quick they grow,
PS
her tickle me Elmo is not as much fun as the singing santa that is supposed to be next to the tree...lol:laugh:
