Well the dealer told me i need a new engien case. I decided to see if someone could weld it. I told the dealer that i was going to attempt it, He said well its your bike do what you want. He said it was stupid to do and he would never recomend it to anyone. Not even for a temporary fix. I said well its already broke.. if anything goes wrong its not like it will break.

So i towed it to my friends house.. where it still is now for 100 bucks. The 1st thing i noticed is that one of the bolts that hold the fearing on was stripped.. Im the one who stripped it before I brought it into the shop. I had to cut the screw off to get the rest off. I took off the black cover, waterpump, (not damaged) Im Looking at the engine now. And i cant seem to see the crack in the block.. What i do see is a aliminum cover that bolts onto the engine. The cover that holds the shifter itself in place. That is cracked majorly. So im taking the 5 bolts out of it.. I get to the last bolt when i cant seem to get the wrench into it. The frame is in the way..

My freind tells me that the engine has to move upward. So the bolt is accessable. Well that takes about 3 hours. We remove each of the engine mounts, place a floor jack under the oil drain. and remove the last of the bolts.. start to let the jack up. Up the engine goes. we manage (somehow) to get that piece off of the block. Its that little god dam cover that the shifter goes into. Which is being Tig welded tommrow. I dont understand why or how the dealership told me that i need a new engine.. Well if you ever find out. See what Columbia Motorsports has to say about it. Becasue i dont think i will be returning there for any kind of service work anytime soon. And i dont recomend any service work to be done there by any of you. Allthough the sales and parts are top notch, the dealership falls behind by not taking care of their coustomers.

Ill try and write some more clear tommrow.. Its 1am and im dead tired.

thanks
Kris

Oh btw.. i just saved $3800 by doing it myself.. 100 for the tow and 100 for the guy that helpoed me weld and take apart the bike

Sounds great!! Make sure you did not snap any engine mounts also. Look very carefully why you have it apart. After you get it fixed we will go riding the right way. Oh don't worry it will be more intence then you are use to, but safer for yoou and the bike.

That's good news but you need to write the dealer and Suzuki a letter and tell them how said dealer is MISS diagnosing peoples equipment in an attempt to over charge and/or scam them.

That is total BS that they gave you a $3,800 estimate for something you fixed for less than $300. Total crap and I would hang them for that.

Here is the thing. I brought my bike into the shop, about a week before tha chain broke, I wanted the mechanic to test- ride the bike for a possible "shift-dog" problem. He said that it was my chain slipping, and that the surging, and popping in 2nd gear was my chain slipping over the front sporocket. He suggested I immeditalery order a new chain, which I did. Suzuki would not cover that because I was warned the chain was bad. After I installed the new chain and the bike is running again, its still popping in 2nd gear. Like i told the mechanic, I think the shift dogs in 2nd are bad. Now my question is... Becasue the mechanic told me it was NOT the shift Dogs/Forks, and I continued to ride it, does this make the dealership responsible for any damage caused by a mis- diagnose?

Oh you bet.; Im riding it like crazy now.. Oh if anyone finds a D&D canister attached to the extention on I395N Please let me know.. When i put everything back togeather i must not have tightened it enough:(

They can be responsible but you would have to had the chain replaced there at that moment. It also can be tough to prove word of mouth unless it's on paper.I always write down what I advise a customer to do before they leave the shop to reduce my liabilty if something is majorly wrong.
